Up till now, I've run my lights off of hardware and software that I built. I have relay controllers (for spotlights and non-pixel light strings) and pixel controllers built using ESP8266s, and a Raspberry Pi-based system for controlling my megatree (uses non-pixel light strings). I wrote a simple sequencer app and a python-based player that sends messages via MQTT to the nodes.
I just got an FM transmitter and I hope to sequence lights to a music track. Plus I'm thinking of adding some animatronic type elements to next year's display. I'm debating whether to keep going with my own sequencer software & player or switch to Xlights. I've read the guide and wiki, watched various tutorials, but I guess I don't quite understand everything in the Xlights world.
Can Xlights control these types of custom devices? Could you point me to docs or tutorials?
(I've see the how-to-use WLED tutorial, so my pixel controllers could work. It's the other things I'm not so sure about.)
