Title: Help Importing Face Node Range from Sub-Model
Post by: sshwq on June 06, 2021, 08:06:57 AM
Not sure if this is a software issue, I'm not doing it right, or if the functionality isn't intended to do what I'm trying to do.

I created a few custom sub-models on a GE Hattitude Triune. Rather than re-draw these as a Face, I'm trying to 'import' the models. In doing so, I'm getting an error saying "xModel file dimensions are too big".

Here's what I do:

1. In xLights, add a new Sub-Model to my Triune, draw it, then export the Sub-Model to an XModel (.xmodel) file.
2. Go to Faces (on the same Triune), add a new Face, select "Node Ranges" from the drop down.
3. Double-click the 'Face Outline' row header to bring up the Select Nodes (draw) interface.
4. Click the 'From Model' button and select the .xmodel file I created in #1.

The result: "xModel file dimensions are too big".

Should this work? Am I missing an important step?

Thanks!

The model you are importing onto must have dimensions larger than the model you are importing from. You can try compressing the source model via the custom model data right click menu but this will often make it look a bit wonky due to resolution issues.
