Title: Possible to copy model from one show to another?
Post by: perigalacticon on June 28, 2021, 07:45:27 PM
I have 2 show folders and one has different models from the other.  Is it possible to copy the model from one show or sequence into another sequence that is in a different show folder?  If so how do you do it?

On the layout, click the model, right click, export the xmodel. On the new show folder, click the Import icon (in the list of models star/tree/faces/etc). Click n drag to create one .. it prompts you for the .xmodel file that you previously created.

Before importing the .xmodel file should I move it to the new show directory?

Not required ...its only used the one time you actually import it into the layout. Leave it in downloads or temp or desktop or whereever...

With multiple shows and multiple events (different show folders), we have a directory away from them all to hold all the xModels.  We can add a prop, grab its file from that xModels directory and import it into any of the different shows.  Works great.

One thing to remember is that since it isn't in the normal path for any of the shows, we must back it up from time to time (for safety's sake.).
