Title: Newb with one pixel that won't shut off!
Post by: Brewing Guru on October 04, 2021, 04:01:10 PM
Okay, this is my first year working with these lights. I have plugged them all in and burned them in with a tester. I have pushed them into my display elements. At this point it will just be house outlines and a couple of matrices on my front columns. I have tried several of my new strings and it does not matter which string I use, when I turn the light output off from xLights I have one pixel on a column that WILL NOT shut off! Does anyone have any ideas as to why?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Been there several times, but I have no help for you.  Mine worked in a sequence.  When I took down my window frames last season I had marked two pixels like that but when I tried to repair them I tried to verify 1st and could not get them to fail.  damn.  Just consider it (them) night lights and reminders that the power is still on.

Does the pixel work normally during a sequence?  Is it always the same pixel when you switch strings?  If you drop an Off effect does everything turn off?

Thanks for the input! I really don't notice it too much within a sequence so I guess I will just use power on reminder.  :) No it does not work in a sequence. It stays on and stays red. It is the same pixel in all the strings it looks like and no it does not go out with an off effect. Thanks again. Looking forward to getting the first year out and going!

The best way to troubleshoot is if you can get setup where you can drop effects live with output to lights on so you can see what its doing.  It really sounds like a configuration issue either on the xLights or controller side not matching in the number of pixels.

Okay, I'll be sure to look at that. I normally don't put my lights up until Thanksgiving day but I think I will put them up on November 1st this year because I'm excited to see them in action!

It usually means that you have a channel overlap somewhere.  Double check your channel numbering and you will probably find it.
