Title: no background image
Post by: charlie-68 on January 27, 2022, 07:32:36 PM
I just updated to 2022.03 and I lost my background image in the layout page, it is just white with the pixels showing. When I click on the page the correct image file shows up, but no picture of my house. The tiny thumbnail pic. is the house pic. I deleted the image and reloaded it, no change, all white.  It was ok before the update, so did I do something wrong, or a glitch in the update?

I just went back to 2021.40 and downloaded it and my background image returned. Could the later update have a glitch in it?  The sequenced seems to run ok. I think I will leave it at this version, till i hear from you.  Thanks Charlie J.

This is the season when major updates get made and usually has lots of glitches to be expected.  You are now officially a beta tester.  Enjoy.

I just posted a bug/issue about the views->window->video preview, not working. Found that it broke in .02. Worked in .01. Curious if you issue worked in .01 and broke in .02. (knowing it doesnt work in .03)

The last update was in mid to late November, I do not update during a show run. So since my show ended I updated the software and that is when I found the glitch. I didn't even update windows during this time as the show is not normally on the network, The only time its on the network is when it needs an update. I guess it may be fixed next update.  Thanks for the input.  Charlie J.

Well guys I just downloaded ver 2022.04. My background image STILL doesn't show in the layout page. As I 've noted in an earlier post it was ok in ver. 2021.04. I may go to a zoom meeting tomorrow.

I just took a look at the issue you mention and that guy is running OpenGL 1.1.  OpenGL 2.0 was released in 2004.  Anybody using OpenGL 3.0+ having a problem?

The zoom meeting did not help. I went back to ver2021.40 and the background image returned but I got other warnings in the model files, so I went back the last version. I was told that it could be a video driver problem, I had just updated the computer and it was noted in the instructions that any outdated drivers would be updated. I can also go in the show files and open the file for the house and the picture appears so it's not a bad file. This appears to be a bad link to the layout page. I tried to adjust the controls and nothing. This is very puzzling. Thanks Charlie J.

" Layout - glVer:  1.1.0  (GDI Generic)(Microsoft Corporation)"

Upgrade your video drivers.

I did a update thru windows which updated the drivers also. I can go to my files in xlights and open the image of the house within the file, my thought is if the image and the picture of the house is there then the drivers are ok.
So, you want the image I'm using sent to you, I will do that tomorrow.

As Dan notes .. you have to figure out why the OpenGl drivers are so old .. that is the bigger issue. But yes, lets see if there is something wrong with your pic.

Here is my image file. I was reading the messages; my question is what is OpenGL? I have never heard of it. Where do I find it to download?

Just a question that has nothing to do with the topic at hand..... why do you have a light above a covered porch?

Here is my image file. I was looking at the messages and seen where Dan mentioned OpenGL files, I have never heard of those files. I googled it and found the Microsoft page on opengl and I downloaded it. It did not seem to help. I'm going to restart my computer to see if that helps. Thanks

Sorry about sending the files twice, did not see page 2 maybe I need my glasses updated! About the light, it was there before the awning, and it was never moved.

I found the app for OpenGL and downloaded it. I have it listed in the app listings. Still no background image. The app said it is OpenGL and CL I believe.

I wish to thank everyone that helped me figure out my computer problem (just too old), I may have to think about a newer computer. Again thanks.  Charlie J.
