Title: Unable to copy file on start up
Post by: brmeadows on February 28, 2022, 01:19:40 PM
I have started getting an error message on start up. This started after I began importing a seq. I was saving the mapping as I went along. Now I get this error on start up of Xlights. Any Ideas on why Xlight is trying to copy the files on start up and how to clean it up?

The error message is unable to copy "Name of an Mapping file I was saving on importing a seq.  example:name of mapping.Xmap. " I am getting this twice, both filenames are very long so I expect its the reason for the error but why is Xlights trying to copy this file when the sequence is not being loaded?

Sounds like you have enabled "backup on open". Which is a good thing.. but it will try to backup the files each time you start up xlights. If you are okay with losing / renaming that file it should fix it up for you. Go into file explorer and find that file and rename / move / delete it.

It would be best to view the log file and read the whole error.  I'd bet you are using a cloud drive that is can't connect to when trying to backup.

You are correct, I have two files with long files names. Sorry I didn't think it through before posting.
Thanks.
