Title: RGB Tree's/ Controller/Setup/Element off
Post by: DfullerPT on November 30, 2023, 06:42:11 PM
So 2021 we had  2 RGB Trees 180 degree with 16 strings 50 pixels each string. Last year we added an additional 16 strings to each tree to get more definition and had them setup in xlights as 16 strings of 100 pixels 2 strands. Things seemed to run ok last last year except Logans Tree Sequences.....Eyes and mouth are significantly off so I left them out. 2023 my wife asked if I could get them to run this year.

Our Controllers are Sandevice E682 both running V5 but seeing things not right switched to V 4 but see no change. Each port is 100 pixels with a zig/zag at 50

I also Tried in xlights assigning the strands individually by start channel but tonight they did the same thing.

The controller we set it up as 100 pixel strands with each set to zig/zag at 50.

The mouth and eyes are off when playing it back live watching outside
the house display in Xlights they look perfect.

We also had them set up in Rendered mode showing the outline not using the Green/Yellow/ Red/ blue tree as the other option and it really looks off in the rendered mode out at the tree.

I just tried to make a new sequence and import effects but that didn't change.... things are still off

So question what am I missing. Any suggestions.

Happy Holidays
Dennis

Did you zigzag both in xlights and the controller?

Thanks for the reply
Yes sir we did
Tomorrow we will hopefully be turning things on when I get off work
if we run again without the Sequence it will be OK just a challenge to
get it to work. It ran when we were 16 stands at 50.

Happy Holidays

You only set zigzag in one place.  Do not zigzag in xLights and the controller because you will end up with no zig zag.

Thanks
We do only have it set up to zag in the controller.
But now ran into a problem we have not had.

All of our elements have been the same for 2 years now and ran great past 2 years.
Finally, after getting everything connected yesterday, we went to test things and just operating the controllers through Xlights test or directly running individually everything is fine all the lights operate fine.

Issue came up playing a sequence all of the elements seem to be shifted to the right. For example, our matrixs are 16 strands running 40 pixels high and set to zig zag every 40 in the controller same as always. When we play a sequence looking at the left side the first 5 strings do not light up the effect is shifted to the right on both matrixs.

We then noticed on our house outline the left side of the house does not light up.

So, we tried updating xlights, even uninstalled and reinstalled then rendering with no success, so then I brought out an older laptop and ran the same sequence through it same thing keeps happening. So, thinking I have a corrupted file I need to delete?????

Denis

Ive gone to an older backup file trying to see if it would help but still shifted.

But you said the setup was "16 strings of 100 pixels 2 strands".  The "2 strands" is zig-zag so you shouldn't need to tell the controller to zig-zag.  I'm not in front of xLights but there might also be a zig-zag parameter under controller settings that is pushed to the controller if you upload outputs.  That is the same as manually setting it in the controller.  Typically these days you don't need to set zig-zag in the controller.  You define the proper number of strings to match the number of physical controller outputs and then set the stands per string to match the number of times you string wraps on the tree.

As far as the elements seeming to be shifted I can tell you I run into this every year where I swear I haven't changed since last year but something is off.  Usually I just have to make sure I re-render every sequence as well as make sure xLights has pushed all the output configurations to all the controllers.  I'm not up on when xLights does this automatically so I manually select every controller and push individually if I'm having any issues.

Thanks for the advice once i finish this report for work, I will look into it more closely.

I definitely have changed something to throw it off.

Thanks again

Thank you so much for the help I figured my report could wait.
I did just as you suggested uploaded to each of the controllers their respective outputs.   brought up the sequence we first tried. rendered it and tested with everything back to normal.

So got brave and rendered a second sequence again perfect. So 2 for 2

So now while doing reports I will render all the sequences.

Thanks, again for you time and help it is greatly appreciated and I know tonight when our grandkids.
come over they will appreciate them running to the music.

Hoping everyone has a blessed holiday season be safe.
