Title: Sequence for in between "shows"
Post by: jwilliams31 on December 12, 2024, 06:22:11 PM
I've been on Vixen for years and now that I'm starting to get RGBs, I'm moving over to xLights.  In Vixen I would have a background sequence script that would run to keep the lights on until a show starts.

How do I do something like this with xLights?  Is there a way to make a short animation sequence and then have it loop and run until the next musical sequence starts?

It is all one show. Schedule a sequence as needed "in between".

Why not run continuously? People don't drive by to see a show they drive by to see your lights so it could be anytime.

I'm trying not to piss off the neighbors too badly, so what I've been doing is run an song sequence every 10 minutes.

So, song; all on; song; all on; song; etc.

So I'm looking to make a basic animated sequence to run in between songs.  The potential issue is that every song is a different length so the "all on" sequence would need to be long enough to cover the interval between songs.

Or are you saying to just create one hour long sequence that includes all of the songs and the "all on" segments?

Yep. It is okay if one song is 2 minutes and another is 4 minutes. The "quiet" 6 minute static scene in between will be fine. Just keep alternating until you run out of songs. Then repeat.
