Title: Celtman123 2014 show setup plans
Post by: celtman123 on January 21, 2014, 11:25:21 AM
I just joined this forum from the DIYChristmas forum.  I'm still a noob with more than a few ideas but not a real good idea of how to implement them.
My goal(s):  48 channels running off of an Arduino UNO with 595 shift registers.  NO DIMMING
I am using just plain ole string lights, no pixels.

Oh yeah, one more thing:  I am using a MAC and I am not going to use parallels, boot camp, wine or any other option that requires that I "infect" my computer with Windows.

Someone recommended xLights/Nutcracker as a sequencer so I thought I'd give it a try.

I hope everyone can bear with me as I try to figure this stuff out.   8)

we have people who run linux or mac.

get a copy of the sources
https://github.com/smeighan/xLights

and read the README.linux and README.osx to see how to compile it.

xlights can sequence non rgb, but you dont have a grid like vixen or lor, you define a model and then drop effects on it.
