I've set up an Ubuntu 15.10 vm so I can build xlights. This is a learning excercise. I followed the readme.linux file but the build is failing via command line and via code blocks. I am not a real coder, I play one on TV..

Any thoughts?

I installed and compiled wxWidgets succesfully.
In the command line the make fails.

Star Wars with Vader/light sabers opening minus the funk...

Sequence files attached.  You will need to have about 200 universes in the setup tab (yes I skip channels for future growth).

Can you provide a link to where you got the song. So I can get the correct one.

Thanks

I talked to Steve G, he will file it for me.

Thanks

I have a Mega tree that is 96 stings of R,G,B and W.
I am using 2 LOR controllers (32 channels)
At Christmas Expo I asked about how to "model" R-G-B-W A/C mega trees and Sean said create 4 models, one for each color and place them about 1 pixel off from each other so that all the colors will show.

I defined 4 models as Tree 360, Type of String Single color, 8 strings per tree. I needed to select Individual Start Channels, so I could assign them to the correct LOR channels that I was using.

The problem is when I save the models and look at them in the Layout tab, you can see the Start Channels on the left side of the attached image do not match the channels I defined in the models.

Did I find a bug?

LOR / LOR Conversion LOR-DMX-LOR-DMX
« on: September 20, 2015, 03:40:53 PM »
Last year I used xLights to add some RGB elements to my Halloween display and then saved everything back to LOR to use the LOR Playern and scheduler. ( I used FPP for Christmas 2014)

I hope to not have to completely redo everything for this year, partially because I am running out of time. My Sequences are a few years old and I added RGB and more LOR channels to them over the 3 years I have been doing Halloween. But the channels are intermixed LOR -DMX-LOR-DMX.

So last year the channel config was as follows:
Looking at the channel config (attached)
LOR Controller 1
LOR Controller 2
LOR Controller 3
DMX Universe 1  ch. 1-126
LOR Controller 4
LOR Controller 5
DMX Universe 1  ch. 127-183

The DMX is sent to 2 areas of the yard via Wireless DMX (Blizzard Lighting)

What would be the best way to build the channel configuration in xLights to get everything to map correctly.

I have attached the lcc file.

Thanks for the feed back. My friend ordered the Xdongle (I have 2 of them and they work great) from Seasonal Entertainment LLC.

General hardware / LOR USB485b dongle to drive LOR controller via DMX
« on: August 20, 2014, 02:32:41 PM »
I'm trying to test a hardware configuration for a friend and I am having some issues.

We are trying to use the LOR usb485b as a dmx dongle in Xlights to control a LOR controllers.
It's my understanding that LOR (dongle or controllers) are looking for the signal on pins 4 & 5.
So if I am using a NON LOR dongle (Entec or EntecPro) I need a crossover cable (1 & 2 to 4 & 5)
I have an Xdongle (configured in Xlights as DMX) using the Cross over cable and it works as expected.

My next test was to configure the LOR usb485b in Xlights as OpenDMX
Use standard cat5 cable to go from LOR dongle to LOR Controller. (4 & 5 to 4 & 5)
When I try to test the lights via Xlights test tab I get errattic behaviour. It's communicating, but lights will just blink off and then back on randomly.

This happens on CTB16PCg3 boards as well as the CMB24D.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Is using the LORdonge for DMX on LOR boards supported?

Thanks
Pat

The price was right for me they were free I wouldn't go actively looking for these strips it's just that I got them for free. I would rather use the regular pixel strips designed for what were are using them for. The hack was just for fun. :-)

9
Here is the layout of the pixels, each one is a single color with 1 dmx address:

R R R R R R R R R B B B B B B B B B G G G G G G G G G Y Y Y Y Y Y Y Y Y   This grouping repeats 3 more times for a total of 108 LED's 108 dmx addresses.

I hope this helps

I have 4 sets of Gemmy Flextech strip lights. They are hackable and the information is posted on the doityourselfchristmas.com forum.

Hack: http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?24927-Flex-Tech-LightShow-How-do-we-hack-and-contrlling-with-LOR

They are NOT RGB they are a single color LEDs in groups of 12 groups of 9.
Group 1 Red, Group 2 Blue, Group 3 Green, Group 4 Yellow….. repeats until Group 12.

Is there a model currently in Nutcracker that can be used even though rainbow effects would not work. I’m more interested in the chase effects.

Each Pixel is 1 dmx address. They use 9816 protocol.

Thanks
Pat

LOR / Sequencing a smart pixel strip?
« on: June 25, 2014, 04:39:09 PM »
I understand how to use the build in effects in NC for smart pixel strings, but I was wondering of there was a workflow comparable to what is in LOR with the timing grid and being able to make very granular changes to a strip.

For example: I have a 16' smart pixel strip that is mounted horizontally on the front of the house. I want to sequnce it with an audio file that might be like a heart beat.
I may want the whole strip to fade up and then down, all in one color in-time with the heartbeat.

I know how to do this in LOR, can it be done in NC?

Thanks

So I got my Raspberry Pi today and I got the software loaded and updated. In looking at the Web UI it appears that LOR protocol is not supported, just DMX or Pixelnet. I gues If I want to use my LOR controllers, I will have to switch them to DMX.

Do I loose any functionality by doing that?

Thanks for your advice.. not sure what I want to do yet. I did order a couple Raspberry Pi so I can experiment with Falcon Pi Player. I still have some non RGB elements that I want to keep around. I'm familiar with LOR S3 UI for programming non RGB, I'm not sure how to do that with Nutcracker yet.

I'm going to The Ultimate Academy  I hope to walk a away with a ton of new ideas.
