Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Tools-Test Window off Screen
« on: May 28, 2021, 04:24:25 PM »
OK, I have 3 monitors, one at 1360x768 and two at 1920x1080. I open Xlights with the lower resolution monitor and display my house and other stuff on the two higher res. monitors. Here's the issue...

When I go to Tools, then select Test, the popup window is larger than my screen. I can get to the right edge and use the mouse and click on it (to resize), but doing so will drop the top of the test window the top of my screen. But the rest of the window is still off the left side and bottom.

I can resize it but it doesn't remember my settings. Is there a default setting for that window in any of the files?

Thanks

Yep that's what happens, so if the power keeps recycling even for a milisec, it resets my HUB, which is where my extended ethernet ports are located for my display. I used the hub since I ran out of ports on my wifi, and it also eliminated 3 50' runs of ethernet cable.

Did what you suggested, but now the Renard portion cycles. Switching the Renard on and off. Maybe there is a command I can send to turn it on from the command line. If you know how please let me know.

I did see where you can send all sorts of info via the Advanced Playlist, just by right clicking on the list. Maybe a process or command to turn on the renard,\. Or maybe even a hardwired configuration to turn it on. Just fishing for a solution here.

Ok Keith, that makes sense, so the channels in xLights are 34703 thru 34708 thru an E682 Controlller. So I pulled up the background playlist, added my ACPower FSEQ, then told it to start channel 34703 for 6 channels. Now we'll test.

Tnx for that info.

You need to limit the background sequence channels.

Meaning, i just need to send a turn on to the Renard channels? I only need to turn on 2. They are normally controlled by a com port.

I'm gonna hook up the wifi renard controller from Bill Porter and see if working from the same network it will work better. That way I'll eliminate the com port

OK here's my setup. I have a Renard SS24 pre-wired to 6 outlets under the eaves. I also have my  entire Christmas display running off 5 E682's. Independently they run fine. I would like to have the Renard turn on the 6 outlets permenantly and also run the Christmas Playlist.

I created a sequence of 30sec that would turn on the 6 outlets (via the Renard) and run in a loop. That works fine to turn on a Hub, a Santa and a couple of trees that will be on for approx 4 hours.

I also have an 8 song playlist for my regular display (approx.9700 leds via 5-E682s). That works fine also and runs for 3 hours.

I tried to create a background playlist for the Renard called AC Power and set it up in Advanced Playlist. But when I run the schedule, the AC Power playlist runs in the background (Yeah!), but the Christmas Playlist plays only the audio and no light sequence. I presume the data is not running.

I currently have a work around with multiple extension cords, but they are messy. And the AC outlets would work perfectly.

I was experimenting with the Polyphonic Transcription in xLights but was not getting any notes either ABC or Numeric. Not sure why, but i opened Audacity and used it with the same song and got the notes in number format. The problem was they all had .000 after each number. I solved that by using Notepad on the exported file and did a replace on the .000 with nothing. I just had to go thru and fix a couple of the first two columns that have to do with the timing. After that I just imported notes and selected the file into xLights and it automatically switched to the ABC transcription of notes.

Hope this helps.

OK, saw a video, can't remember where. But, it was a fire on a mega-tree that had random embers floating up from the top of the flame. Some white, some orange and some red. They were wavy as they went up to the top and faded as it went up. Much like a real fire with embers popping up and disappearing.

I've played around with my mega-tree and uses a layer below and added different effects but have yet to duplicate it.

Anyone??

Bugs (Please dont post here, soon to be deprecated) / Re: Count Down
« on: December 28, 2015, 04:24:16 PM »
:o OK, created new file and it's OK. must have been a corrupt file. Weird. as the numbers it displayed were random and I could alter them by moving the position also. LOL. Anyway I removed the file from my display and created a new one.

Bugs (Please dont post here, soon to be deprecated) / Count Down
« on: December 27, 2015, 08:22:40 PM »
:-[ Countdown timer has gone crazy! I had it working in 4.25. but in V4.3 it only displays numerous digits, like 2893713, or other random number. I was using the seconds and p0utting 10 in the text box, then it would increment down 10, 9, 8, etc. Now the large number usually 6-8 digits and counts down from there.

Thanks
Alan

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / 4.3 broke timer in text
« on: December 25, 2015, 06:33:20 PM »
The timer in the text, has gone bad. ::) I had a 10 second timer set in the text, placed 10 on the text line and selected "seconds" in the count down list, and it displayed a random 6-7 digit number. :D  Switched back to 4.25 and it works fine.

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Groups of Elements - Copy/Paste
« on: November 20, 2015, 07:28:16 PM »
Found this while making groups of mini trees. I have 5 mini trees on the left side and 5 on the right side of my display. I put them in as individual trees, labeling them mini1R, mini1L, mini2R, ..... mini5L. Then grouped them as Left side and Right side (5 each). Then grouped them as a full group of 10. Issue was when I used the left or right side as a group and added an effect, it doesn't show up in the full group of 10.

Hummm, after looking at my post, I guess it's OK like it is, I just thought it was a bug. But maybe not. It would be duplicating the individual elements, now that I look at it.

OK did find a bug, it's copy/paste. When the group is closed and you are doing a copy paste, it doesn't copy those it can't see. They must be visible to copy.

BTW I only had one issue with DropBox and multiple computers. Be sure that all have the same user name, so the directory that has the files is the same. IE: C:\Users\Bob\Dropbox\xxxx WHere Bob is the same on all computers.
