Do You Need Help? Post it here / 3 Axis Skull Support
« on: May 02, 2025, 08:29:51 AM »
I had played with the original 3-axis skull changes that Gil made a few years ago.  I see that there have been significant changes.  I'm trying to setup a skull and I'm having issues getting it to work.  Some specific questions:
1) Do I need to setup servos first than link them to the skull
2) Does the skull support the faces effect for lyrics
3) I have a skulltronix BOC board, Frightprops DMX-Servo as well as some of the Arduino based boards.  Assuming I hook them all up to a DMX outputs of FPP's  when looking at the min/max settings, shouldn't they be in the "DMX" ranges?   I"m seeing ranges of 500-1250
4) Is there an updated tutrorial on how to set up skulls using the new code?  I've only found the original one from Gil 5 years ago and Experience Lights 3 years ago. (Note:  The experience lights uses Servos as the primary control and then links to the Skull)

ANy help/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Do You Need Help? Post it here / FPP Connect
« on: May 12, 2020, 12:32:30 PM »
Did FPP connect become disables in a recent release?   When I attempt to upload the controller settings, I don't see any changes on the FPP.  If someone could point me to info on this or release notes where functionality was changed, I would be much obliged.

I made some changes and now it works.  Seems like it had something to do with. "Part of my display" not being checked on one model and that model in an active model group.

I'm using 4.2.8.  I have tried all combinations.  I have saved both the models and the sequence.  I've exited and restarted XL several times.   It appears that if I open a sequence, I can actually PLAY it fine.  If I try to click on any cell or a tming bar, that is when I get the plethora of pop-ups telling me the models or elements can't be found.  I have also checked that all elements are part of at least one group whether or not I have all the groups checked.

For my Halloween setup, I wanted a quick way to address all my RGB effects (not nodes but things like floods) and be able to apply an effect to all of them.  I created a Model Group and added all the Elements that had RGB components.  I then made that model available to my sequence display.  I applied effects and it works great.  When I save, it seems to save fine.  The proble is when I go back into the sequence, I get messages for a bunch of my elements that says:  "Could not find a model or group names...". It then proceeds to list a whole bunch of models and elements.  Most of which are not even in my sequence at all.

Any ideas?

Enhancement Requests / Ability to resize Model List Box
« on: September 23, 2015, 12:39:44 PM »
When you select on several functions and get a pop up box,  it would be nice to be able to re-size the boxes.  One example of this is the Model List box on the Layout tab.  When you click it,  the names of the models get truncated. There isnt' even a scroll bar on the bottom to see the full names.  Ideally you could resize the box large enough to be able to read all the entries.  I've noticed similar behaviour on some other pop ups as well like the EDIT MODEL Groups although that does have a scroll bar on the bottom.  It if functional , but not ideal.

What new effects you would like to see / Re: Embedded Papagayo enhancements

Cut and paste would have helped me.  I had a sequence from last year that was all out of sync and I couldn't figure out why.  Turns out I had used a different song version that had the first 5.5 seconds truncated.  My solution was to dump the timing txt file to excel and subtract 5.5 seconds from the start and end of each time slice, then re-import.  Worked beautifully but a cut/paste would have been much easier.

What new effects you would like to see / Embedded Papagayo enhancements
« on: September 21, 2015, 03:33:00 PM »
I just finished a song using the new embedded FACE features.  The software works awesome but I have a few ideas to make it even better.

1) Have  a system setting that automatically breaks out phrases as you enter them.  This would avoid the need to keep righ-clicking to initiate for every phrase.  Maybe  a system switch that is either on or off for those that don't want them automatically re-done when editing or entering the main phrase.
2) I played with the "AUTO" feature for the eyes.  I'm not quite sure what it's supposed to do but maybe either have it randomize the eyes at the time of playing or possibly link eye movements to specific phoenomes.  I suppose a work around is that you could map eyes for each phoenome manually but I think random would be better.
3) Maybe I'm not seeing it but if you select a time slice on the top row, it would be really awesome to have guide bars down to the bottom so you can see if you are aligned.  It only highligths the wavform.  Normal effects are not that critical but when you are adusting the text and phoenomes, it would be very helpful

Thats it.  Other than that is it some really nice coding.

Open with Notepad or some other editor.  You should be able to see the HTML.  Then you copy paste into the rgbeffects file.  I just re-downloaded and verified the files are still good.

Is there a share site anywhere that we can share our papagayo files?

I created these with XL4.  They are for the commercially purchased Holiday Coro Singing Monsters that many DIY'ers have in their arsenal.  They are set up as an 8 node model such that you can control the motions with the Papagayo code and XL4.

To use, just copy/paste the code into your RGBEffects.XML file in the model section.  Then update the channel assignment to your setup in XL.

Nutcracker Effects / Re: Color Wheel/Palette

I was thinking when you see the color wheel on the left or the basic colors, there is a place to save custom colors. Maybe I define a set of custom colors and save that entire list as a pallette
