The Water Cooler / Re: Videos of some of our songs

I was hoping there was an option I'm missing.  Not sure why the forum doesn't provide a better way to set the zoom.
I have been successful in right clicking the picture and selecting to open in "Another TAB" or "Another Window"
It has usually helped me to see the full picture so I dont have to scroll and only see parts of the picture at a time.  not a perfect solution but has worked for me.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / set up model
« on: November 03, 2016, 02:25:36 PM »
I hope I can explain this in a way that it makes since.  I am using Xlights 2016.50

I am converting my roof line from 3 strings of leds ( Red,Green,White) to RGB pixels.

The pixels are 4 inches apart  and would like to define them so that I can put an ON effect on every 3rd one.  RGWRGWRGW and so on.

Then also be able to turn the whole string red, green or any other color and do other effects on the whole string.   How do I define the string ?

As a custom model with  X number of pixels and number them 123123123123 etc? Or is there a better way or easier way?
Thanks in advance for the help!!

The reason I like to import last years is because I have more than one model and I have renamed a lot of stuff for simplicity.  If I open 8 sequences I have to do that renaming 8 times while if I import and create a mapping file I can effectively do the renaming once.

You can use mapping files at Open time as well, but it's a little bit more annoying as for each unknown model, you have to say "map it" and then  the mapping dialog pops up.

May try this. Thanks Dan.

Why import them?  Can't you just open them like normal?   For any models that no longer exist (renamed, for example), it will prompt if you want to map them to a different model or similar.

Yeay that is what I was kind of thinking too. That I wouldn't have to delete and rename models all over again in all my sequences .  Thanks!!

Yeah unless you were sequencing at the node level it will open just fine.  Only the model name matters for model level effects.
not sequencing at the node level but I have got to be missing something that I am not thinking of or just out right missing a step or not have something configured correctly. Will try again maybe without changing chanels and channel number with offsets. I must have something set up wrong.  thanks for the help!

Great news, xlights is all about models, not channels. You should try it first before you state it doesn't work.

Well i did try it and it didnt come out correct. I am not saying Xlights dosnt work I am saying what ever was done the way I brought them in didnt work.  Will have to go back and retry and see if I am missing a step or something. Thanks fo the help

OK I dont think just opening them and renaming and delting as needed is going to work because all the models have new channels also. It looks like when I just open one and tell it to use models its not showing correctly after that.
Trying to get import to work again but now only seeing pixel models and no single channel AC models.

Ok I may try this. but adding a smaller Pixel tree and wanted to import the old one on to the new one so it would be showing the same thing and be sized right since it is smaller.  Is there an easy way to do that?

Thanks for both of your help.

Ok I am lost here. I have watched several videos about converting xml files to now sequences and i must be doing something wrong.
I used xlights version 4 last year and have the newest version xlights 2016.50 now and have change my layout some and renamed other things and would like to import my sequences from last year to the new setup.
after starting a new sequence and selecting the song and timing 20ms and select done I am ready to import the old XML file. I select import select my old directory and select XML in bottom left and click ok. I get the following screen.  here is where I get lost. I am at the top of the import window and I am not finding any thing to match it to only MTree-pixel shows up.
how do I get or find the other items to select from?

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Faces for Pixel Tree
« on: October 18, 2016, 09:11:17 AM »
There is a nice collection of singing faces in these posts and I may try to use some of these.
Thanks to those that shared them!  What I am really needing is a singing Rufolph.
I had a coro singing Rudolph up until the tornado the day after Christmas last year.
I did not make a new one and thought I could just do a singing Rouolph on my pixel tree but I am no artist.
I would really appreciate it if someone has done one and would be willing to share the set of faces.
Thanks

I posted this over on Falcon Christmas also.
I have had red, green and white plain leds not RGB at 12" apart on my roof so I could turn on either of the colors I wanted or all if wanted. They were running from LOR controller in Xlights.

My question is-
If I  buy 4" spacing on new RGB nodes can I define them as red, green, white, red, green.white etc... so they would be approximately 12" apart in xlights and in the Falcon16v2?
Maybe like these http://www.holidaycoro.com/Brilliant-Bulb-p/709-ps.htm

Then I could put an effect on only the red nodes that would be 12" apart or the green or the white and would look a little more like the traditional Christmas lights and maybe copy the existing channels red to red from one sequence to another?

Then can they also be set up as regular rgb strings and put an effect across all at once and they would be what ever color the effect would have bene set to?
It sounds llike these would have to be seperate model groups but not sure how to set them up for xlights and the F16v2. Would F16v2 use virtual strings to describe them or would it know which nodes to light by the model in xlights.
Thanks in advance fro the help!!!
