Hi, Just watched the updates from Keith on the latest versions. Thanks Keith.

He barely touched on the 3D stuff. Mentioned numerous videos done by Gil.  The only video I recall seing, was when Gil showed us what he was working on at the time.  Appreciate all the effort and time Gil has done to give us a 3D enviroment now. Thanks Gil.

Could someone point me in the right direction for some newer vids by Gil.  Searched our videos, didn't see anything.  Searched youtube, all I see are the preview vids.  Keith mentioned there were several covering the subject.

Thanks.
David

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Adjusting P10 brightness on the fly...

Ok, here is what I would like to accomplish if possible.  Caveat: At this time I am not using Xschedule this year.

I have some video I'll be running on my P10 128x96. I know I'll need to adjust the brightness/gama as the videos play, otherwise too bright and washed out.  However, there are also parts of the music that play effects on the P10's so I need them brighter again.

Also, On my Tune To sign, When my songlist is not playing, I would like to have the brightness around 60% to be easily seen. When the song starts I want to dim the sign down to around 10-20% so it is not overriding the surround effects.   I'm sure I could go through and create a separate seq. for the Tune to, but could there be an easier way to accomplish this goal. Same with "On the fly" adjustment of the P10's if possible.

Thanks,
David

Keith, I’ll have Corey(female) zip the files up so you can take a looksee, time permitting.

They are RGB pixels. She doesn’t have LOR at all, not sure how a data layer would work. She’s all AC, the singing trees are the only RGB element she is using. Again these are the Boscoyo tree model we downloaded w/in Xlights.

Re Face nodes, that is essentially what we are mapping right now. Trying to verify from my OP, if we are on the right track re mapping.

If we have to follow your video route, most likely we’ll have to go another route. :(

Thanks for trying.

David

Hi Keith, this is what we were going to ask on the Zoom call yesterday. It was very helpful for Corey.

If the sequence is already done with appropriate effects, why do you need the lyric track. It is already complete. Can't you just map the trees and use in Xlights?   Just want to make sure I don't send her down a rabbit hole.  The RGB layout is 229 nodes, so I know we'll have a lot of nodes to deal with.

It was unexpected to me how this sequence was created in LOR.  All the face effects have been done, just need the trees to utilize them./ I thought mapping would be the answer. OK, I guess we'll have to regroup then.

Not good news for Corey.

Thank,
David

Hey everyone, trying to help Ms Corey get her singing trees going. Yes, we were watching the ZOOM yesterday, she had to leave before it was over as did I.  So if covered, apologies didn't see that part of the session.

Ok, We have already downloaded the Boscoyo custom singing tree models. All the nodes layout etc are there. We can put effects on the trees just fine. It's the singing part she/we need assistance with.

She has purchased some singing tree sequences from Holiday Sequences.  They are LMS files.  Split up into CT1,CT2,CT3,Ct4.  All the node ranges are listed for each section of the treeoutline and mouths.  Looking at the mapping, do we map the same object to cover all nodes.  Example: CT1 outline is nodes 1-100, so in mapping the outline, we would put CT1 outline in nodes 1-100? and so on for all the other node ranges for the mouth shapes?  Or is there an easier way to accomplish this.  The faces are already synced, just have to get them working in Xlights.   Since this is done at the node level, do we then promote node effects to clean things up?

The trees will be RGB pixels, so would she bulk edit colors first before promoting.
Finally, she does not have LOR software, She has AC channel stuff, but wants to do this in Xlights.

I'm probably missing something here. Also, I did not see any timings or lyrics on this LMS sequence. Just the effects.

Thanks
David

Hi Keith, that clears it up. Thanks

Hey Keith,Gil,Dan,Scott etal. Keith just watched your Xlights update showing new features.

I noticed you skipped over this: Enhance handling of invalid mappings loaded from mapping files so mappings are not lost when saved and invalid mappings are highlighted.

Since I do mapping still, from time to time.  Is this an important fix I use, or is this a behind the engine type fix.

Thanks to all for everything you do to make this program the best.

Best,
David

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Add Effect Select Panel. Version 2018.6

Ok, can someone shed some light as to what this enhancement may be please?

I see the regular effects selection window and the icons, don't understand this enhancement.

Thank You
David

Hey decor dudes and dudettes,

I have 3 p10 panels on my roof peaks approx. 30-40 feet apart.   I would like to create some effects of imagery
or text to scroll across the 3.

Example I have 3 dancing skeletons that start on the left panel, move to the right. I would like to have the far end skeleton begin to show on the next panel as they scroll off left-right.

Is the easiest way to accomplish this is to create a model of the 3 P10, next to each other, then as they scroll it would fill onto next panels?   I guess I would use the same channels for both?

So may changes going on, didn't know if Gil,Keith,Dan etal may have slipped something in Xlights that would accomplish this goal.

Thanks for any insight.
Best,
David

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Thoughts on Tune To sign
« on: November 16, 2017, 04:59:28 PM »
Hey everyone, working on my Tune To Sign.  I know what my layout will be. I plan on using 1 p10 panel for the sign this year.

Being that the sign has many layers, is it easiest to create an effect by selecting all the layers, to use over again.  This will be used in all my Christmas sequences.

Anyone have a better suggestion. Will be running the show from FPP. The P10's are run from BBG's in remote mode.

Also, my P10 is 128x96. If I get something working, it will display my singing faces. However, I need the best resolution to show.  What are ytour recommendations for video size/type for a 128x96 panel? Is Mp4 the best or would MOV or AVI be better for the video playback.

Thanks for any input.

Best,
David
