Enhancement Requests / Add Comment Field to Network Setup Screen
« on: December 03, 2015, 04:43:02 AM »
It would be really helpful to be able to put a comment in for the different network devices.  Personally I have multiple controllers of different types differing between LOR "Showtime", AlphaPix 4 (running 5v), AlphaPix 4 (running 12v), AlphaPix 16 (running 5v) etc....  It would be nice to put a comment in order to keep things nice and clean.

Thanks,
Chase

Nutcracker Models / Fireplace Model
« on: November 23, 2015, 06:32:45 PM »
I have the attached model for putting a matrix on my fireplace.  I am trying to figure out what I need to do so that I can specify the different universes since they won't all be the exact same number of pixels per universe along with having different lengths of pixels per line.

Universe   Starting Pixel   End Pixel   Total Pixels
1               1                   168               168
2               169                336               168
3               337                504               168
4               505                672               168
5               673                792               120
6               793                936               144
7               937                1080               144
8               1081               1224               144
9               1225               1368               144
10             1369               1512               144
11             1513               1656               144

I have tried everything I can think of but I just can't get it all to work together.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks,
Chase

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / v 4.0.29 crash debug report
« on: May 12, 2015, 09:14:43 AM »
I was working on a new sequence had the first strand opened all the way to the node level.  Was doing some copy/pasting when it crashed.  Had 12 nodes @ 1 sec set to on (different colors) on the clipboard.

I noticed that but only if my system is low on physical memory regardless of the pagefile size. Free up some memory and see what happens.

I have gone and made sure that there should be plenty of memory available, at least I would hope that 16GB is enough memory (that is my available memory).  The issue is that "on exit" the application isn't making sure all possible opened forms are closed before exiting the top level executable.  I believe the assumption is that they will stay docked vice being opened in a new form window.

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / House Preview Un-docked won't close
« on: May 11, 2015, 10:52:19 AM »
If you exit out of xLights before closing the House Preview window when undocked it stays open and will not close. Alt-F4, right click close, X to close none of them close the window. Not even re-opening xLights doesn't work to get it closed.  Reboot is the only way.

xLights 4.0.29

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Custom Matrix Model

define it as a vert matrix starting in upper left corner

So that's what the strand parameter is for....

Thanks again,
Chase

Sean -

If I use the hardware to do the zig-zag won't that screw up the effects? Wouldn't xLights assume it's a straight line then and the effects would not match up or is there something I'm just not realizing......

Also just to make sure my thought process is correct, since I will be using the 2 AlphaPix-4 controllers for part of my Christmas display but not using the same sequences/layouts/etc.  Doing the zig-zag in xLights is the logical route.

Thanks,
Chase

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Custom Matrix Model
« on: May 10, 2015, 11:24:04 PM »
Ok, I am working on this 48x24 matrix, consisting of 8 strings of 144 nodes.  Layout is from top left and in a snake pattern v^v^v^v^ neither of the built in matrixes don't seem to account for snaking.  I then tried setting up different ways with the custom and none of them seem to be working......

It shouldn't be this hard.......

Thanks,
Chase

I am currently working on a 48x24 matrix using a PixNode Net (2" spacing) for a total of 1152 nodes.

It's being run from 2 - AlphaPix 4 controllers, 4 - MeanWell 5v/ 60amp/ 350 Volt power supplies.

Total Universes           : 8
Nodes Per Universe     : 144
Channels Per Universe : 432

The immediate use is going to be for an event I am attending it's going to be a big sign hanging from our hotel balcony.
