Xlights Setup / Re: Trouble when switch show directory
« on: December 20, 2016, 12:39:10 PM »
Quick update. I start from scratch as I only have about 8 models ( not including the LOR ones I created). I tried to make something simple with just xlights RGBs. Placed it on my working show Pi and it would not play the lights. But if I modify an existing xlights file I am currently using. It works great. Where is my error???

Xlights Setup / Trouble when switch show directory
« on: December 16, 2016, 06:57:10 AM »
Hopefully one of you can help.  A little background first.  2nd year with FPP & Xlights, best thing i EVER DID!  Reading thru this forum nightly for about 3 years now has helped greatly.  Last year imported all my LOR sequences into a data layer and played everything on the FPP. Seamless.  Last year I also created several original Xlights sequences; 2 with imported data layer from LOR with Xlights RGB effects on new models and 2 sequences with Xlights RGB effects only. Seamless.

This year I:
-was playing around with 2nd Pi with video so I change the show directory so not to mess it up.
-I did! I switched back to original show directory and  created several small 15sec or less RGB effect only (no LOR data) but they do not control any lights when uploaded to FPP.
-I looked at the XML (I admit as an IT admin I'm not a programmer) and do not see anything significant different in the ones from last year(that work) and the one I tried to create last week.
-So I tried to use one of the RGB only sequences from last year- "Save as" a different name replace the audio file with the one I want for this year, modified it a bit so i could tell the difference and it ran the lights fine.

So can someone tell me which direction to go.  I have triple checked the setup tab and all the models against my spreadsheet of channels.  For the life of me a can not figure out why a new sequence to the original show directory will not control the lights when uploaded to the FPP.

Surely there is someone that can enlighten me with "the Force"

Merry Christmas All.

Xlights Setup / Re: Color problem with 2 new Models. Need help

Thanks Gil!  You were right on.  That controller needs to be set to 510.  Fixed! It was color shifting.

Thx.  I looked at the post from my yesterday also.  I will test it tonight after the show.  I think I may have setup the fold in both controller and xlights.

Any insight on the problem with colors I stated on the Matrix and Megratree.  Red/Blue test per Sean video tried but still off.  I used 512 instead of 510 per universe.  Could that cause the color shift across the Megatree and Matrix if the controller doesn't support it??  I was under the understanding that pixlite 16 was 512 per universe.

Xlights Setup / Color problem with 2 new Models. Need help
« on: December 16, 2015, 02:55:49 PM »
Sorry Noob at this all as its my second year.  I spend hours the last couple night searching everything imaginable to solve this.  I didn't want to waste anyone's time.   So I got energetic this weekend and decided to assemble  2 models planned for next year.
Megatree
-16 stings of 2811 Pixel RGB LED Strip / Ribbon 30 LEDs/m 10 Pixels/m
-connected Pixellit16 on Output 1-8
-String folded in half at top (at 51) - 100 connected in each output.
-Power inject at end of second string

Matrix
-4x8 pixel from holidaycoro
-10 Pixel RGB LED Node 12mm / 12v / 2811 / 50 Node String + extra 12pixels  = 512 pixels
-Power injected every 100 pixels
-Connected to Pixlite4 all on output 1

Trouble I'm having setup in Xlight to test.  I get lights to turn on! Megatree is folded at 51 at te top total of 100 pixels per output.  Every effect on the tree sees the 100 pixel string as a continuous line not as 50 then folded and started at the bottom again (pixel 100).  If I was to run a single strand chase. It goes up the first 50 pixel string to the top, then hits the folds a comes down from the top instead.  I need it to go up 50 pixels, hit the fold then start at pixel 100 (bottom again) and go up.  Otherwise every effect look weird.
Also on the mega tree.  Every light string was order at the same time from Ray but…when I put a solid color on the tree say Green.  The first 3 output (300 pixels) are Blue, the next 3 outputs are Green and the last 2 outputs are red.  Everything should be green.  If I change the RGB vs GRB order with Xlight, it just shifts the color sequence but still multi colored.  I expect they are all the “same” light string but are they and can I fix this?

Matrix is similar in color problem.  All pixels are plugged into 1 output from the Pixellite4 but a solid color will render all three colors on the matrix just like the megtree (never counted about 200 green, 200 blue and 112 are red)

Not sure where to turn. It seems like I have tried every combination of changes.  Help I need to power of the Jedi council to solve this one!  If screenshots are needed, I will provide.  Hoping it is something normal and simple.

Xlights Setup / Looking for a Frozen.mp4 video - Can anyone help?
« on: December 08, 2015, 08:51:39 AM »
Does anyone have a Frozen.mp4 file to share?  My girls want that song sequenced.  I would like to use a .mp4 video with the Pi but I can't seem to figure out how to get a .mp4 copy from the DVD.  It is amazing how many hours you can spend on this hobby!  But I love it.  Thank in advance to all.
