The Water Cooler / Re: Sub model Ideas
« on: January 27, 2020, 04:42:43 PM »
I did download the models for my flakes and stars, placed them right on the layout of Xlights.
The stars have submodels for the "layers" of stars but I didn't see anything else.
The flakes have no submodels.

Unless I missed something....

The Water Cooler / Sub model Ideas
« on: January 26, 2020, 08:05:59 PM »
I've been toying around with the Boscoyo props and creating sub models for flakes and 3 and 6 layer stars.
I've come up with:
The "arms" of the flakes,
Rings moving from the middle outward for each flake and star.
The "points" of the stars.

What other sub models do others see in stars, flakes and even the coro mini trees?

I have some 99 node candy canes as well.  I haven't really set up an sub models in them but I have chosen to put the nodes in "diagonally" vs horizontally.  I find that this give a very nice twisted look (more like a real candy cane) when using the spiral effect.  I even put the nodes in such that some are "left" diagonal and others are "right" diagonals so the props can be set in the field with some variability and still have the nice twisted look.

Xlights Setup / Re: Model Controller Assignement
« on: October 26, 2019, 02:34:24 PM »
I'm still looking at this issue and haven't found where I messed up.
If I change the start channel for my roof line to 100:2, the roof line will be assigned to the F48 controller.  Seems there is a channel count wrong by one.  Not sure how.
I set the absolute start channel for my roof line to the first channel of the F48.  The setup shows universe 100 is indeed also part of my F48 controller. Not sure why I have to set the channel to 100:2.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Universe Definitions
« on: October 24, 2019, 07:18:07 PM »
I have been working with universes and setting them up.
I have defined my universes to have 510 channels each.
If I setup one controller to have 10 universes on it but don't use all 510 channels on the last universe, can I change the number of channels on the last universe to be less than 510 channels?  The reason why I'm asking is it seems like there is a "waste" of channels when I create the next controller and place it on universe 11. This may not be many channels but every 300 wasted channels is 100 nodes I could use somewhere else.

Am I being too stingy with channels?  Does this really matter?

Nutcracker Models / Polyline setup
« on: October 24, 2019, 07:10:35 PM »
I have defined a roof line using a polyline model.
I would like to split the model into to separate strands to avoid power injection.  This would mean I would use two ports on my controller for this model.
How do I assign two ports for a polyline model?  It seems like Xlights only thinks the polyline will use a single strand (port).

Xlights Setup / Model Controller Assignement
« on: October 24, 2019, 07:06:43 PM »
I'm creating a new display setup.
I have defined two controllers and assigned them universe information as shown in the screen shot labeled "Network Setup".  You can see I have one controller (F16V3) with IP address: 192.168.10.10. It has  twenty-seven, 510 channel universes assigned to it.  A second controller (V48) with IP address: 192.168.10.20.  It has twelve, 510 channel universes assigned to it.

I have tried to set up my models using the two different controllers.  When I get to the selected roof line model, I set the start channel to #100:1 (the first universe assigned to my V48 controller).  However, when I open the "Node Layout" dialog box, I wasn't expecting to see the assigned controller to be the F16V3.  See second screen shot.

What am I doing wrong?  I tried to give as much information with the provided screen shots showing my settings.

I apologize if my attachments are not labeled as I had hoped.

Nutcracker Models / Matrix Setup Question
« on: March 06, 2019, 02:26:24 PM »
I recently purchased and want to use a Falcon V48 to run a matrix I have.

The matrix is a 25x25 node matrix.  I  previously set this up as a vertical matrix with a single string and 25 strands.  I had this controlled by 5 pixel net pipe bomb controllers, each programmed to the correct starting channel count.

With the V48 setup I was hoping to run this with a 4 port receiver.  I want to use 2 strings of 208 nodes and one string of 209 nodes.  Is there a way to define a matrix model using strings of different numbers of nodes?

I can still use my previous method and then go to the V48 define each port there but I was hoping I could do all the work in Xlights and update the V48 with the info.

Thanks.

Gilrock,

I'm looking at the Picture effect currently as I was trying to do something similar with stopping an image before it scrolled away.

Using version 2016:22, there does seem to be options to start a picture with an offest "Start Position" and end a picture location "End Position" but the End Position tab is not available for use.   Interestingly, the "start" and "end" scale options are available.

Was the "End Position" mistakenly left out?

Thanks

Never mind.  Found the transparency option!

Nutcracker Models / Laying out models question
« on: April 03, 2016, 06:40:41 PM »
I have a series of LED mini trees that have 5 individual color strands each - red, green, blue etc.

When I place models down on the layout for these I created a custom model.  I then place a model for the red string in the same exact location as the model for the green. Looking at the preview while a sequence is running, I only see the green. I assume because it was the last one put down it covers the others. If I move one model just off the other I can see a small part of the model underneath.

Is there away for models covered up by other models to show through?  I thought the render option of "erase" vs "canvas" might help but it doesn't.

Thanks in advance.

Falcon Pi Player / No output with FPP
« on: November 27, 2015, 12:03:43 PM »
Last year I ran my show using FPP and XL3.  I have not updated my FPP to the lastest version and am still using release 0.4.

This year I am using my FPP and XL4.  When I run the sequence my output is off and doesn't look correct.
When I run the show using XL4 and the ETD I get correct setup.

Did something change in the FSEQ files that requires me to update my FPP to the lastest version?

Thanks

Xlights Setup / Setup for Ray Wu Rectangles
« on: November 06, 2015, 11:09:56 PM »
I am using the Rectangles (1804) that have been listed on the DLA boards from Ray Ru.
For the life of me I can't figure out what RGB combination these are.  I have tried all the different setup options in XL4 and the colors still don't come out correct.
What is the RGB combination for the rectangles?

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Deleting Timing marks
« on: October 13, 2015, 07:45:08 PM »
I have placed timing marks down but now decided I don't want them any longer.  I realize it really doesn't matter as I can place an effect anywhere on the grid,  but they are annoying to have to look at after not needing them.
How do I remove them? The only way I have found to remove them is to slide it over to the next closest mark.  This really doesn't seem to remove it as I can always slide it back.  I have read the manual but not found any info on removing a timing mark.
