I love you guys. I think I just grew back some hair. Per Preview worked. I will send along some videos. This will be first year that I am 100% xlights.

Thanks for the reply. The screen shot was from last year. Currently using a new matrix. It has three separate screens. Yes I know see that if I only put the video in any one screen it will resize the video and looks great. BUT when I group the three screens together and then place the video on top of that group the video plays but it does not resize.

It would be nice if in the picture and video effect that the item you are going to use could have an option to resize it. Even with my 20 foot long matrix i have not been able video that is low rez enough but still maintaining some quality. My matrix is 100 x 63 with a two inch spacing in between each node. My hope is to wrap the entire house one year. But if I cant get xlights to handle the video by auto sizing it to the size of the matrix or having a scaling option i will be stuck just using the exciting effects for some of my whole house groups. This will be the first year that everything I have will be in xlight, No more lightorama software for me.
Last year I was using 30/10 strips for the matrix, this I have rebuilt it using 30/30

The video effect already automatically scales to the size of the model you put it on.  Picture effect has the scale to fit checkbox.  You can use scaling in picture effect to dynamically change it during the effect and you can use rotozoom to scale and rotate any effect.  So what it is you couldn't do?

No that is incorrect. If the video option did that I would not post my last statement. when i load frosty the snowman which is at 640 x 480 onto a matrix that is 100 x 63 I only see the middle of the video xlights does not resize it at all. So could someone please reply to this that has this problem or is able to show a video or screen shots of the video effect resizing I have no problem being wrong im just telling what I am experiencing. xlight 2016.39

All of the strips are 30/10 2811 5 meter 12v. I injected power into ever other strip then sent all the injected cables back to the power distribution panel in made. I have one 1250 watt gold rated PS running everything in the front including the controller. They are cut in half for a total of 50 strips 5 meter strips. the size is 21 x 100. Next year I will use 30/30 in the front for higher resolution. I tried to run videos like frosty the snow man using xlights but the 30/10 didn't handle it well.
The biggest problem I had was the wire that I bought off amazon prime. It was 16/2 stranded . I used it for all of the power and then pulled the two strands out using them for data. Sounds easy but the wire was such crap that there was a lot of bleed across the cables causing a lot of interference . I had to rewire. Only buy the UL listed wire. The wire may not have been a problem in just single strands running around the house but there is about 1000 feet of wire in total controlling the matrix. More videos to come.

Lights are on . Thanks Holidaycoro , love the new V2 Alphapix controller. There are 7100 lights on the front of the house using strips and 1800 on the tree with the singers on the side.

More to come, Carry On.

First thing is to go into your xlights setup and make sure every universe says yes under enable. See the picture.

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Effect Assist bug? All 4.0 versions
« on: November 27, 2015, 02:45:26 PM »
I am currently running 4.1.6 I have one model that is a matrix 21 tall by 100 wide. when I add a picture to the timeline for that model then bring up Effect Assist the entire matrix does not show up on the screen. So I scroll to the right to see the tools and color picker, when I do this the model disappears and the items on the right get distorted. I have attached a before and an after picture. Could it be that the model is too big? Long? Also why isnt there a maximize button at the top right only a exit button. I have also tried this on the current version 4.2.24 and I have created a smaller model 10 wide 50 tall with the same problem. I am currently using windows 7PRO AMD 8 Core, 32 gig ram, R9 280 video card. I have also tried this on my I5 laptop same problem.

Xlights Test / Re: 24 FT long Matrix Alphapix 16 problem

Also the controller only wants the beginning universe number and the total number of pixels per output. Even numbered universes are not defined because the are implied.

yes, but, the setup in the controller has 252 pixels output, output #1 on the controller has two universes on it for a total of 510. in  the xml I am only using 17 universes 1 and 2  channels 1-510
and so one. isn't that correct?
On the controller , you have Universe 3, 5 etc defined . In the xl setup you have 3, 4 and 5 defined ie they don't line up as there is no universe 4 on the controller.

The universes and number of channels on each universe should align between the xl setup and the controller.

Same for others..

Xlights Test / Re: 24 FT long Matrix Alphapix 16 problem

You can not see the zigzag checkbox in the picture but it is not checked. I have told the controller to reverse order ever 21 pixels. the matrix is vertical 21 pixels up the back down. and again when I use the test patterns built into the controller everything works.

I noticed you are using reverse addressing, which is zig zag. The last I heard, the firmware in the awfulpix only does zig zag once. I would hope that is fixed by now, but you might want to double check.

Xlights Test / 24 FT long Matrix Alphapix 16 problem
« on: November 08, 2015, 07:19:51 PM »
My brothers, a short story. I have built a matrix using strips of 12v 30/10 ws2811 and one alphapix 16. The matrix is 21x100 or about 7 ft tall and 24 ft long. There are 9 universes all have 252 pixels in them except the last one which only has 84. for a total of 2100 pixels or 6300 RGB. I am using a 1500 watt gold rated computer power supply that has 6 PCI express outputs. Each outputs has a rating of 30amps continuous.   I have injected power on every 3rd strip. the number 1,13,25,37,49,61,73,85,97 universes power and data cable go back to the controller. When I power everything up and use the test built into the controller every light, strip and pixel works great. When I test in xlights 4.2.1.6 I get some universes that don't come on, some pixels are slow even colors that are not part of the test pattern. The Alphapix is version 1.03. I will include pictures of the controller setup the xlights setup and one of the power distribution panel I have created. Also the longest cable used to inject power is no more them 30ft and I am using 16/2 for everything going out to the controller.
