Do You Need Help? Post it here / Weird issue uploading configuration
« on: September 03, 2024, 06:58:32 PM »
I have a PB16 controller by Scott Hanson.
It is version 1 and in xlights I discover controller and everything comes up ok.
I select Expansion as variant and select Upload output.
I open FPP on controller and it shows in pixel Strings as PB16 w/expansion (2Serial) but after port 16 it shows as expansion type Standard. If I select differential and save and restart FPP it will save OK.
When I make changes in xlights and then upload, it reverts it back to expansion type standard.
I have done this several times and it keeps reverting back to standard (treating it as a 32 port controller).
Is there a new virtual eeprom with the differential expansion option?

HLS / Re: Has anyone had success importing HLS sequences to Xlights?
« on: February 24, 2019, 08:37:15 PM »
I had successfully imported my HLS sequences over to xlights around 3 or 4 years ago, back when version 4 came out. I believe Dan developed the import for HLS since he was a HLS user before becoming an xlights developer.
I'll admit, it was a while ago but I believe the steps I followed were:
1. Setup the Lighting network exactly as I had them when I exported my HLS files (HLSdata files). in other words I setup all my controllers and universes exactly as I had them in HLS.
2. Created all my display elements in layout of Xlights and named them as I had in HLS.
3. Once all that is setup, you can create a new sequence and select your music.
4. Select import and then import effects and point to the HLSDATA file you exported from HLS.
5. You have to select the models you want to have the effects import on and then you can select the HLS nodes to import.
Now this part can be tedious, but you only have to do it once and then save the mappings. Once done, you can import the next sequence and use the same mappings.
As stated before, once imported you can't really edit things since it is a flat data layer import. However, for those few HLS sequences I still use I just add to it in HLS and then re-export and re-import to Xlights. This is a labour of love for those few sequences I have lot of time put in like yourself. Newer sequences are made with xlights only of course.

Nutcracker Effects / Re: Importing sup file
« on: November 09, 2017, 08:17:41 PM »
OK, I thought it may be something like that.
Just making sure I wasn't missing something.
I'll post it on GitHub.
Thanks.

Nutcracker Effects / Importing sup file
« on: November 08, 2017, 09:59:28 PM »
I have imported sup files with no issue onto my 12 strip ray tree and onto my pixel trees without issue.
This year I was planning on adding 4 arches, so I created a model using the arch model and specified 4 arches each with 25 pixels. Under that model I created 4 sub models: Arch 1 (nodes 1-25), Arch 2 (nodes 26-50), Arch 3 (nodes 51-75), and Arch 4 (nodes 76-100).
Now here is where it gets interesting....
I can import the sup file onto the ARCHES model and it works fine, but I was looking to try and import onto the sub models one at a time to see the effect. The sub models do not show up in list when trying to do an import.
Using an LMS file and doing an import works as it should and I can see the models and click deeper into the sub models to complete the mappings and import.
Any particular reason that sub models will not appear as an option for SUP import?

For best results draw it out in Piskel: http://www.piskelapp.com/
1. make the canvas the size of your matrix (resize drawing area to 25X24 pixels).
2. Draw Skull outline and at rest Phoneme, click save to file.
3. Click duplicate frame and change Phoneme for O face, save file.
4. Repeat process for all phonemes used (usually 5).
5. Now in Xlights with your matrix assign the pictures for the face definition.
I haven't found an easy way to take a simple 7 channel singing sequence and import into Xlights using pictures within a matrix, but doing it on a singing element using sub models is easy.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: lights stay on after shut down,

One of my stars on my roof got stuck on red (the stars that Ray wu sells). It stood out like a saw thumb so it's off the roof now. Presumed it was a "pixel" gone bad.
I met a fellow with a "saw thumb" and it didn't stick out at all.....it was quite the opposite!
hahaha couldn't resist!
 :D ;D :) ;)
