Thanks that did it. Actually it was my problem I had not changed the #nodes from 48 to 192.

Based on your description the setup described should be what you want...I have mine setup the same (just more nodes and I start mine at the bottom left).  I used the setup in your post and this is the node layout...4 ports with 192 nodes on each.  What is wrong based on what you are looking for?

Where would you like us to post new models we create?  I'm sure one specific place would be easier than several different threads/forums/Facebook.

I really don't like sharing models.  I like to create my own.  The first time I used a shared model it had a mistake that caused me to cut and splice a pixel up on the roof and wasted my time.

I can see both sides here - I do like shared models as they have helped me to get snowflakes setup much quicker than I could have on my own.

To Gil's point - I had put up my new snowflakes and the next night my wife told me I had a "light" out.  I went out and sure enough one pixel not working at all - I thought I would just replace it once I brought props back in.  The next day I added a candy cane and the bad pixel moved about 12 pixels!  Wait a minute...went and looked in the model and a someone had mistyped a node number (28 instead of 38).  I fixed that and pixel is not dead anymore.  Were it not for me putting out that other prop I would have cut out 2 pixels and then had the exact same problem.  So I would say shared is good but buyer beware...

Nutcracker Models / HolidayCoro style Pumpkin Model

Thanks to the original poster for posting this model information.  Does this model code work in the newer versions of xlights?  I pasted the code into the .xml file however the model does not show up when I load up xlights.  I went in and did a "stare and compare" to the xml code posted vs some custom models I had done on my own and there are some subtle differences.

I know this is a little old but I ran into this same issue this morning using 2016.55 - thought I would post what I found for other new folks.  First off - export/import model functionality is much nicer than working with the XML but I saw the direct XML posting and thought I would try it.  Anyways, I copied in the XML as described and same thing (tried twice thinking I messed something up) - the model was not there...or was it???  Turns out the XML preview tag is not in the original XML post so it ends up being placed in the Unassigned Preview dropdown option.  To "fix" I selected the Unassigned dropdown and...there was the model.   Over in the model data boxes to the left I then changed the Preview option to Default, saved and switched back to the Default preview dropdown option.  Going back and looking in the XML code you can see a new tag was added LayoutGroup="Default"

Reminder - as Sean has said many times (and in post #14 in this thread) - F10 to backup before editing this file.

This software (and people) rocks!

Just a small Christmas present to all of the great folks on the development team - this software is simply amazing and all of the support you provide is out of this world.  Thanks also to everyone who helps others on here - what a great community.

Thanks for this info!  I literally had this question earlier today - sometimes I switch between Mac and PC so I just assumed it was related to that and made a mental note to look it up later. Appreciate the clarification.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Frustrated with Strips in Arches
« on: November 27, 2016, 06:47:33 PM »
I like the effect that the strip and the McMaster Tube gives, however I am trying to figure out a way to get the same effect using bullet pixels. I am struggling with this. The tube is the same tube Matt Johnson used. They are a fairly large diameter but not enough to pull a pixel strip like James has where you could poke the bullet at the 1" spacing, it won't fit so I am thinking about zip ties to compress the pixel string. The number of nodes with the strip is 50 with the bullets it could end up at 85.
This is an interesting thought...I may experiment with this idea as well over the next couple of weeks (to be used next year).  I bought 50' of the tube Matt used and the strips as well but some of the issues I have read about make me a little nervous on the strips.  Keep us posted if you figure something out.

Agree as well - I did the webinar (wish I could have been there to meet everyone) and it was simply fantastic!  I sketched an idea of my first model layout during the webinar and sat down today and loaded up a pic of my house and created about 15 models...all with confidence based on what I learned.

Thanks to all for the hard work and countless hours spent preparing for the seminar - it was well worth it.

I created a matrix in xLights 1 universe in size and the candles using the same universe. I assigned the candles about half way up (channel 250 or so). When I want to have the fire effect, I out the fire effect on the matrix and since the candle use the same channels the fire effect will flow down to the candles as well. Doing this allowed me to position the candle higher up in the fire effect as opposed to the bottom of the fire effect.

The matrix is hidden because it only exists in xLights for this purpose there is not an physical display element other than the candles.
What are the size parameters for the matrix?  I understand the overlay concept just want to get my channel 250 about the same place as yours within the matrix. Thanks.
