Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Using sequences back to back

Jon,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I kinda thought I'd be using the scheduler.  I'm planning on using FPP but I wanted to see my display proto-typed in the xLights sequencer on my PC before I had the lights on my house in November.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Using sequences back to back

This is a noob question, sorry if it was asked before.

I have a half dozen 1 minute sequences that are not tied to music, just for show.  I'd like to play them back to back and then repeat for say a 30 minute show.  Is there a way to store a sequence once and then import it on the sequence time line next to one that's already there?

Or do I need to recreate each sequence individually on the sequencer?  That method seems like a lot of unnecessary work.

When you create the animation you need to change the duration from the default to 600 seconds.

Ah, thanks.  I hadn't even noticed the tabs when creating a sequence.  Is there a way to retroactively change the length of an existing sequence?

Edit: Nevermind.  I found the tag in the XML file and edited it.

I just created an animation sequence.  That's it.  Nothing special.

I would like a sequence about 10 minutes long.  Should I just add enough music for 10 minutes even though I'm not broadcasting the music?

I'm using 2016.20 and can't zoom out to see more than a 1:05 (one minute, 5 seconds) at once on the Sequencer.  In fact, I can't get past that at all since the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen never moves.   I'm creating a sequence without music.

Am I missing something?

Nutcracker Effects / Re: House outline only

Thanks for your help.  That did exactly what I was looking for.

Is there a good tutorial just on how the effects work?  Also, are there any places to get more effects?

Nutcracker Effects / House outline only

Hi, noob here.  I searched the forum but didn't find an answer, so bear with me.

This year I'm dipping my toe into pixel lighting.  I will be outlining my house in Brilliant C9 type lights using an AlphaPix 4 controller from Holiday Coro.

I am experimenting with xLights and some of the simple things I can do with a house outline.  No show with music, just animation.  Chases, etc.

However, I'd like to have periods of time during the sequencing where the lights just look like traditional old C9 Christmas lights.  That is I'll have five colors and alternate them (red, blue, green, yellow, white) on the strings.  That part I get and can do pretty easily by changing the colors node by node.  Pretty tedious, though.  But, I'd also like to have some of the lights flash like I used to have on the old style C9 lights.  I'm not sure exactly how to do that.  In fact, I'd like to let the flashing be random if possible.

Can this be done easily?  Is the tedious method the only way?  Also, once I create a sequence for 10 seconds or so can I save that effect and then copy it in enough times for it to repeat for, say, 10 minutes?  Or can I take a single sequence and tell xLights to repeat it for 10 minutes.

Sorry if I'm so wordy, I'm just trying to get the hang of this.  Hopefully I can catch on quickly and will be able to post helpful information later as repayment.
