Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / VU meter bug in OSX
« on: August 23, 2018, 06:13:49 PM »
I will post this on github once I get a video but just in case someone knows a simple fix.  This is specific to running xlights on a Mac. When you layer the VU meter below of a fan effect then the colors are not rendering correctly.   Essentially all of the colors on the VU are not showing and the colors of the Fan are not right either.  I have tried 2017.25, 2018.4,14,22,27,29 and none work.  The same sequence on a PC is fine and the same sequence created on a PC is fine when opened on the Mac. So it's something in how the xml is created on a Mac.

Nutcracker Effects / Re: How to make pixels look like ordinary Xmas lights?

My neighbor does a razor straight outline in incan C9s. It's one of my favorites.

I agree about the incandescent I just don't have the power to do it without adding a bunch to my electric panel

I have to admit when I drive by a house with INCANs glowing I'm kinda jealous.
Thanks baby bear I will try that. Gilrock that's why I am keeps my incans as well, well LEDs actually. They are more of a pain to sequence but I like how they look better.

Nutcracker Effects / How to make pixels look like ordinary Xmas lights?
« on: November 29, 2016, 08:11:32 PM »
Is there a way to have pixel strings alternate colors like ordinary Christmas lights do?  I thought about doing this after the show is finished for a few hours.  Otherwise, what do you do after show hours?  I have my ordinary lights turn on for a few hours and wanted to do something with the pixels.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Shift all effects on a model at once
« on: November 02, 2016, 11:38:53 AM »
I am curious if it is possible to shift an entire row of effects for a model by a few seconds all at once.  I want to adapt a shared/purchased sequence but the shared song is longer than my song I already have by a few seconds.  How would you go about aligning everything?  I know I could trim the songs to match using Audacity but how do I trim the sequence to have the beats line up?  One real world example is Let It Go, but I have found others as well.  If you have the video and use the file that Lilia has for sale it is longer than the audio file found on the soundtrack to which I already have a bunch of LOR channels.  How would I merge those two things with the least amount of work?  Thanks for the help.

Show Assets / Looking for the creator of this song mix
« on: November 02, 2016, 09:06:29 AM »
So back in March I downloaded an edited version of Let it go and Do you want to build a snowman from one of the forums called Frozen Mix 2014.  It has a digital signature of James at Boscoyo.  My little neighbors love this stuff.  I am looking for an xlights sequence for this music mix.  Does anyone have it?  Thanks.

This problems pertains to LOR controllers (CTB16PC) and .fseq files.  I have noticed that when using Xlights or the FPP to play a LOR sequence on a LOR controller that the first note/second of a song is sometimes skipped.  If the first note gets skipped it immediately starts correctly with the second note/second. I tested this having Xlights output the signal from my laptop and from both a master and slave Pi and all had this skipping issue. I have tried a standard, high speed and booster RS485 adaptor and they all do it.  I can’t seem to predict when it will skip or when it will play normal.  I am planning to only use 4 controllers (64 channels, with only 48 being used). My controllers were going to be daisy chained in this order: 01, 03, 04, 02 with about 100 feet between them.  When I did my test I only connected 01 and 02 together using 50 feet from Pi to 01 and 25 feet between 01 and 02. I set FPP up so that all 64 LOR channels were being transmitted at the highest baud rate, which also matches the Xlights baud rate.  I tried just doing 1 controller and only transmitting 16 channels from FPP and got the same result. I only had a couple strings plugged in so I could pick out those big noticeable beats.  Would this cause the problem?  I tried it on 2 different Pi's and 1 laptop with the same result. That is why I changed the RS485 adaptor, but that didn’t help.

Is this a known issue to anyone?  Does it have a fix?
