xlights doesnt have any networks setup... he is using a fpp to run the show that just needs the fseq file which is generated separate from the network setup page

The way i have been doing it... new sequence... (for this since you dont have the mp3 file its animation), 50ms set the time to 362 seconds (6 minutes 2 seconds), done

then import at the top
select the lms file (change the file type down at the bottom)
a popup box comes up...  choose load mapping and select the mikes lor import dmx 2 blank file... all fields should then populate, then click ok... then after a couple minutes you get unhandled exception error

if you go back in before you import and change the duration to 239 seconds (3 min 59 seconds) then repeat above it will import

his mapping if you need it is ... channels 1-16 lor unit 1, lor unit 2 which is in the lms is not used this year, this is universe 1 in xlights,  wreath is dmx 1 and 2 though looking at the lms file dmx 2 is blank so the 2nd half of the wreath needs to be duplicated from the first half xlights output though will be universe 2 and 3 as universe 1 is lor unit 1. universe 4 is the eaves (not in the lms file)  dmx 5-9 is the mega tree this is mapped over to universe 5 through 9 in xlights (but even strings need to be reversed as the tree is now zig zag) and the arches are universe 10 wich is a copy of dmx 1 and dmx 1 1/2 again.

to recap that...
lms file
unit 1 16 channels
unit 2 16 channels (not used)
wreath:
dmx 1 (100 pixels 300 channels)
dmx 2 (170 pixels 510 channels (seems to be blank)
Mega tree:
dmx 5 (170 pixels 510 channels)
dmx 6 (170 pixels 510 channels)
dmx 7 (170 pixels 510 channels)
dmx 8 (170 pixels 510 channels)
dmx 9 (120 pixels 360 channels)

xlights ouput
universe 1 16 channels (lor outputs)
universe 2 170 pixels 510 channels (wreath)
universe 3 30 pixels 90 channels (wreath)
universe 4 120 pixels 360 channels (gutter)
universe 5 170 pixels 510 channels (mega tree)
universe 6 170 pixels 510 channels (mega tree)
universe 7 170 pixels 510 channels (mega tree)
universe 8 170 pixels 510 channels (mega tree)
universe 9 120 pixels 360 channels (mega tree)
universe 10 132 pixels 396 channels (arches)

Thank you sir... and the error is a windows error that crashes xlights with no log file created... the only log file that i have had on this is corrupt itself ... (cannot open file format is invalid) when it try to open the zip error log file that xlights generates

oh and data layer gives errors about such and such is not mapped and after its all said and done... it leaves the sequence bank as well...

the file is there any one who can get something working on it go for it... sorry im just really getting frustrated

would love too only

1) their not in order correctly
2) dmx universe 2 is blank (2nd half of the wreath) so im reimporting the first half onto the second half
3) im using dmx universe 1 for first and 2nd half of wreath, the eaves, and the arches
so basically import is my only option

LOR / Import lms to xlights
« on: November 15, 2016, 06:12:50 PM »
I have 10 of 11 imported for a friend... the 11th... is 6 min 1 second long, if i use the import i get unhandled exception... the longest i can make the sequence and have it import is 3 min 59 seconds.

Is this an issue that xlights has a constraint on the max time allowed for a sequence? The sequence itself is less in terms of size than several other ones... its 260mb vs a couple others that are over 280mb. As i said i can get it to import if i make the sequence less than 4 minutes (3:59) unfortunately though it cuts off any effects after 4:11ish as that is the furthest out xlights will go at that sequence length.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4hd9csk338uzqlg/mikes%20lor%20import.zip?dl=0

there is the link for the lms, his rgbeffects.xml file, and the lor import file for importing it in. The sound file is not in there so as to avoid the whole music thing... the sequence length is 6 minutes 1 second and 50 ms (1 tick past 6 min 1 second)

IF someone can get this imported to xlights and send me the imported file will be greatly appreciated

I noticed this the other day when doing the singing faces tutorial... i did the faces and hit render... it took almost 17 minutes to render the 3 singing faces. Once i saved it and it had a valid file name renders were under 10 seconds... I assume its a unknown file name on every frame of the render having to wait for a timeout then next frame unknown file name wait for timeout etc.

Edit... quick possible workaround... have them name the sequence when they create it (new sequence from menu ----> sequence name pop up ----> existing new sequence flow (animation or musical) etc. And once done is clicked as its pulling up the sequence it saves it.

Ok I have an issue, this has been happening across all the different versions. I am currently using .39 and its still happening. I posted on facebook about it but really should ask here.

Here is what I am seeing.

Open xlights, open a sequence. Everything loads just fine, then after a few seconds the following windows enter what i call zoom mode. Any preview windows (model, house) the actual sequence box (where the effects are) the sound wave view. Resizing the windows fixes them for a second or two, the best way i have found to get everything straightened out is to immediatly when the sequence loads select an effect, then start resizing stuff until it stops entering zoom mode, i have tried all 4 options on opengl (opengl 1, 2,3 and auto)

Here is a video from a month or so ago that shows what is going on.

https://vimeo.com/168123389

here is a blow by blow on what is happening in the video...
0:00 - 0:29 opening xlights and opening a sequence
0:30 - 0:47 closing model preview (cut down on the number of resizing i need to do) moving the house preview out so it can be seen, several attempts at moving it and putting it in where it goes back as part of the xlights panel.
0:48- 0:55 playing the sequence and its normal
0:56 BAM... house preview zooms in, wave form view zooms in (you can just see the bottom of the wave form) and the sequence window zoomed in.
0:56-1:07 turning off the sequence and letting you see what it looks like.
1:08-1:30 start resizing things as i resize you can see some or all 3 of the windows go back to "normal" then zoom in immediatly
1:31 -  1:47    im actually moving the mouse (cursor isnt showing on the recording software) left and right along the row that is cir 9 bot, as i click to select the space you can see that the blue select is on the dark row aligining to between cir 6 bot and cir 6 top. to show how zoomed in the sequencing area is.
1:48 -  2:11   once again moving stuff resizing things go in and out till they suddenly stay at 2:06 and stop zooming in
2:12- end replay the sequence and it stays at "normal" and will remain so until i close xlights and open it again at some point in the future.

Thanks Keith... Now to remember if its a red line that means to check to make sure its default setting.

Bugs (Please dont post here, soon to be deprecated) / Matrix issues
« on: July 03, 2016, 11:00:07 PM »
Today I ran into a huge issue, it wasn't untill i looked at the crash report that i realized what the problem was.

I was applying effects to a group and had the layer settings render style set to single line. The last thing i was wanting to do after i had everything else done i applied a video file to the matrix. Well i plopped down the video effect, made it the length i needed (it ran for the entire sequence) and went over and clicked on the choose a file, selected the mp4 i wanted... and crash. I did this 4 or 5 times and couldn't figure out what was going on... i read the error and it dawned on me ... the matrix was still set for single line.

Im running .39

here is the excerpt from the crash report
Thread: 0x00002558    Rendering layer effect for frame 0 of Matrix, layer 0.CHECKBOX_Video_AspectRatio=0,CHOICE_BufferStyle=Single Line,CHOICE_Video_DurationTreatment=Normal,FILEPICKERCTRL_Video_Filename=C:\temp\frozen\frozentimedright.mpg,SLIDER_Video_Starttime=0,TEXTCTRL_Video_Starttime=0.000

as you can see bufferstyle-single line... is there a way of removing any other type of buffer style from the movie effect other than default or atleast ones that wont cause crashes?
