Ah, well, I need to say Thank YOU Phrog30.
There is a radio button selection on the "New Timing" track.  When it is selected, I cannot drag to select.  I clicked it off and am now able to drag select.
Phew, what a relief.

Yes, I do not have the timing track selected.

There is only the Nutcracker layer to render with the Source, Data, Number of Channels and Channel Offset as sub-items indented and below NutCracker.

I also have another issue that I cannot left click and drag to select a range of effects for copy.  I have had the capability at random times.  Yesterday I opened two xLights windows to see if copy past into a new sequence would clear the problem.  In one instance I was able to left click, drag and select.  On the second Instance, I was not able to left click, drag and select.  I can left click, drag and select in the time line to select an area to play, just not in the effects area.  Single selecting groups of effects are real slow.  I have had this problem on all 3 versions (49,50,51) of xLights that I have installed up to the latest version 51.
I am running on Windows 10 with the latest video drivers (updated video drivers did not fix the problem).

Thanks for the quick reply.  The most offending lights are the LOR AC lights so they are single nodes.
Unfortunately I am new to XLIGHTS and not familiar with Layers.  I did not create any on purpose :-) but that is not to say that the when I imported the LOR sequences, the import process may have.

I have been running LOR for a few years and bought some new lights that I am now going to use E1.31 for control.  I imported my display from LOR into xLIGHTS.  I have added the new elements and started blending in the new lights with the existing sequence.
I have areas where I walk the lighting effect from left to right and top to bottom or vice versa.  I noticed that model lights from the LOR AC controllers that are not supposed to turn on during the time frame are showing up.  When I select an "on" effect on a model that is supposed to be on, some of the models that are off show up in a blinking mode, even though there is no graphic effect in the time line.  The xml file does not show an event for those model lights during that time slot, as far as I can tell.
The tool Check Sequence does not discover any overlapping model channels.  I have also started a new sequence and turned the model lights on individually to ensure no overlaps or cross lighting effects.
I have also tried the force the model lights on during the normal off time frame and then deleted the effect as suggested on other similar posts.  When I force on, the offending model lights are on solid (versus blinking), but when deleted, it goes back to blinking.
I have also deleted sections out of the sequence, rendered, and still have the deleted effects show up.

Any suggestions?
