Events/Gatherings / Colorado Light Enthusiast meet up in Denver on March 23

Your monthly reminder that March's meeting is this Saturday the 23th from 9-5 at the South Metro Fire Rescue Administration Building located at 9195 East Mineral Avenue in Centennial, CO 80112. Mike Medhurst and Doug Reel will be facilitating a discussion on organization, layout, and design to point us in the right direction this season.

Feel free to bring items to give away, sell, or trade. Bring your "lighting" issues and any associated equipment for troubleshooting as we have a very knowledgable group and it helps to have your equipment on hand.

Everyone is welcome to attend. It has only happened a handful of times in the last several years, but please comment if you are planning to attend so that no one makes the drive only to find they are the only one showing up. We often have members driving from Colorado Springs, Greeley and Ft. Collins to be with us.

This month we will be meeting on Saturday, June 23 from 0900 to 1700 at the South Metro Fire Rescue Administration Building located at 9195 East Mineral Avenue; Centennial, CO 80112 in the lower level, but check the monitor by the front door to make sure as there is quite a bit of construction going on that may cause us to change rooms.

We had a request to review best practices for mounting options when it comes to RGBs and LEDs. Please bring any props, pictures, website references for discussion and presentation.

As always, bring any questions and issues you need help with. Feel free to bring any for sale and trade items. I am leaving for a two week wildland deployment on the 20th and unable to attend.

This month the Colorado Christmas Enthusiast will be meeting on Saturday,  April 28 from 0900 to 1700 at the South Metro Fire Rescue Administration Building located at 9195 East Mineral Avenue; Centennial, CO 80112. I believe we will be in the lower level, but check the monitor by the front door to make sure as there is quite a bit of construction going on that may cause us to change rooms.

I believe we still have a few that may want to present their 2017 display and talk about success and areas for improvement.

Doug Reel will also be leading a discussion around setting up universes and start channel addressing.

As always, bring any questions and issues you need help with. Feel free to bring any for sale and trade items.

Tim Thompson will be facilitating as I will be out of town. We've had request to review setting up video projectors with a RPi as well as power requirements and setup issues.

I hope everyone is as excited as I am to  get started on our new shows. This month we will be meeting on Saturday, February 24 from 0900 to 1700 at the South Metro Fire Rescue Administration Building located at 9195 East Mineral Avenue; Centennial, CO 80112.

This month we will be setting up our RPis and BeagleBones as well as updating our controllers with the latest and greatest firmware under the direction of Ben Shaver.

Things to think about bringing include: RPis, BBB, SD cards to format, thumb drives, wireless dongle, Falcon controllers, "show" router / switch, Cat5 cables, extension cables, multi-plug, labeler for documentation.

During down time, we can continue to review 2017 successes and plan for 2018 shows.

Slight change of plans for Saturday as Mike will not be available to present. Seems like a good discussion to have this early in the year as we prepare our shows. Please bring your ideas, props, etc and we will have a best practices round robin style meeting. Remember to bring any projects you need help with.
