Do You Need Help? Post it here / Saving XML Document
« on: October 13, 2020, 08:39:53 PM »
I was working on a new animation sequence for Halloween.  When I saved it, I noticed that there was no xml file
saved, only an xsq file and an xbkp file saved.  I thought that the xml file was the most important one to save.  Is it no longer necessary to have that file saved?

Correction on my original post, it does NOT freeze the frame.

Nutcracker Effects / Freeze An Effect Part Way Through

I've watched Keith's video on freezing and effect several times and tried doing several times and using both methods and I just can't get it to freeze.  I've followed his steps very carefully, but it does freeze the effect or change it any way.  I'm using version 2020.3.  Any suggestions?

Falcon Pi Player / Uploading to FPP
« on: January 04, 2020, 03:57:36 PM »
I can't get anything to load into my FPP for xLights.  I used x schedule for my show this year and it worked great.  I'm trying to set up FPP to run it next year.  I have two F16v3 controllers and an AlphaPix 16.  I went to tools and did FPP connect and it found my FPP and I selected the files I wanted and uploaded, but nothing uploaded.  I also right clicked on an individual line on the set up page and went to upload to controller, output, either AplhaPix or Falcon, and uploaded.  It showed it was uploading but nothing went to FPP.  I refreshed FPP and also restarted, but nothing. I'm using v3.5.   I can always upload manually I guess, but uploading from Xlights would be a lot easier.

I decided to go ahead and manualy configure FPP and I tested my set up on the FPP test page and it worked fine.  Colors were correct, every thing worked as it should, but when I tried to run a sequence, only 3 random pixels came on.  I tried a couple of more times and the same 3 pixels came on, but everything else was black.  The sequence was playing, but no lights.  I attached some log files.

General Software / xSchedule and Web Interface

Do I have to have the internet running and the web interfaces open when running my show from xSchedule?  I'm using two F16v3's and one AlphaPix16 controller.

Ok, thanks.  My internet is down, so I'm communicating through a hot spot and it won't pull up the web interfaces for my controllers soon.  As soon as I get the internet back and can pull up the interfaces I'll try it.

Falcon Hardware / Virtual Strings #2
« on: December 06, 2019, 11:01:39 PM »
I am referencing the post I made on Nov 24 about adding virtual strings to my Mega Tree.  I received very good help, but am not quite getting the concept and how to do it.  I re-submitted  the post because it is a couple of weeks old and I wasn't sure how soon my latest addition to the post would be viewed.  I attached a screen shot of my Falcon port set up.  I'm basically needing to make one pixel (basically in the middle of each string) a null pixel.
I also attached a picture of the pixel on one of the strings that I need to make null.

Do I set up a standard string and a virtual string for each pixel that I want to be null?  I wont have the mega tree completed until Friday afternoon and I will post a screen shot of my set up Friday.

Good, I'm at work right now and probably won't be home until around 8:00 this evening.  I'll get you more details as soon as I can.  Thanks!

Falcon Hardware / Virtual Strings

How do I set up virtual strings on the Falcon?  I'm trying to solve a problem that I thought I could solve with null pixels and I addressed on another post. I was told that virtual strings would work.  See a copy of the post below and a picture of the problem

I'm really just wanting one pixel (the last pixel in the string) to not be a part of the prop and not turn on, just pass the data.  I had to reconfigure my mega tree and I wound up with a total of nine pixels on my mega tree (spread thru out the base of the tree; the last pixel on every third string of 50) that are in between the strips and I don't want them to come on.  I can cut them out and re-solder the strings together, but just trying to avoid that.  I know this sounds confusing, so I'll take a picture in the morning and attach it and that should make it easier to understand what I'm trying to do.
