Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Re: Mac 2021.11 Output to lights
« on: May 01, 2021, 09:20:30 AM »
I'm seeing a similar issue so adding to this thread (I'm on version 2021.14.1)...

I'm using FPP as a proxy to connect to my controllers with xlights.  I am able to upload to the controller (F48) but I get no lights when turning on the output to lights.  I can run lights from the controller and/or FPP directly with no problems.  Also, here is an error in the logs (below) that occurs after I turn on the output to lights.  Any ideas?

I found my issue...user error.  I didn?t realize my firmware was out of date. Updating the firmware fixed it.

Lights / Trouble with open ports when loading to Falcon...
« on: March 20, 2020, 03:10:40 PM »
First off, I just want to say I love the new controller oriented changes in xlights. This is the first year I will be able to simply upload to my controllers and have it all just work without having to do separate configuration of the controllers.

I?m seeing one issue when uploading. On my F16, I am using one expansion for 32 ports but I am not using a couple of the ports (12 and 28 in my case). When I upload from xlights to the Falcon, the empty ports are not getting skipped. In my case, port 13 info is going in 12 and then this issue cascades down the remaining ports. Do I need to set something in xlights to indicate that a port is unused?  Everything looks correct in the visualizer.

For now, I just created some dummy models to put in those ports and then everything loads fine.

Thanks,

Rob

Lights / Can?t see controller drop down in 2020.10
« on: March 18, 2020, 11:37:00 AM »
I?m no longer able to see the controller or model chain drop downs when I select any of my models in layout. However, when I look in the visualizer they still seem to be set up correctly. Is there a setting in need to change to see those options?  Right now, the layout tab seems to be defaulting to absolute channel numbers.

Oh, I didn’t realize I needed to do that. I’ll give that a try. Thanks Dan!

Lights / Output to lights not working with FPP Proxy
« on: August 04, 2019, 07:31:05 AM »
Hi guys.  I’m currently running version 37 of xlights and I’m no longer able to output to lights after enabling FPP Proxy to connect to my falcon F16V3.

For FPP, I’m running it standalone on a PI which is my access point to my show network/F16V3. My laptop connects wirelessly to the Pi via my home network and I have a separate show network connected by Ethernet.  FPP is version 3.0 and the f16 is running 2.50 firmware.

I started using the proxy feature to avoid having to always set up the routing on my computer. Overall, everything seems to be working and I can get my lights working if I either control from the controller or FPP webpages. I just can’t get it to work from xlights directly.  Am I missing a setting somewhere?

The Water Cooler / Re: Replacing A Bad Pixel
« on: June 10, 2019, 08:42:33 AM »
You should replace the bad pixel and the one before it. The reason for replacing the one before is that it could be a faulty chip that is not passing the data to the next pixel.

Lights / Re: Problems with Sphere Model
« on: June 09, 2019, 07:15:27 AM »
Sorry about that.  Here is the packaged file.

That is interesting how rotating a sphere results in a zero width model.  I didn't think of that but I guess it is possible in a 2D world.  My layout is all in 2D.  Would I need to build out everything in 3D in order to have the model in 3D?  Other than people walking around the sphere, the rest of my display is really only viewed from the street so I haven't really explored going 3D due to the added complexity.

I'm hoping you are not considering removing the sphere model all together.  I really went all in and built my prop around it assuming some improvements would come over time.  Other than the "Per Preview" option, the default rendering has been working and is creating some great effects.

I've attached the rgbeffects and fseq files.  Let me know if I gave you the wrong stuff.  The sequence is super basic... just 3 bars effects.  The first one is set to "Default" render and works fine.  The second two do not render at all for me when set to "Per Preview".

Lights / Problems with Sphere Model
« on: June 07, 2019, 08:31:50 PM »
Hi Keith and xlights team. I’m running into issues with the Per Preview setting not rendering correctly for the sphere model. Depending on how the model is rotated, sometimes the per preview will not render at all. For example, if I rotate the model 90 degrees on the x axis and 90 degrees on the y axis, I get a blank screen when running a simple bars effect. Can you please look into this strange behavior?  I have a pretty great prop built using this models but I’m having trouble getting it to cooperate. By the way, I have 3D turned off. Thanks!
