Do You Need Help? Post it here / Can I create an MP4 from X-Lights
« on: March 18, 2020, 09:57:41 AM »
Hello, I have a sample of a video system made up of 4 matrix panels and a controller.  It only runs on MP4's though so I need to create a video file.  I do not want to spend the money on video editing software like Matrix, or Final Cut.  My question is, Can I export a video file somehow of a sequence I build in X-Lights?
Thank you

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Matrix of bullets not working
« on: October 25, 2018, 04:04:44 PM »
Hello, I made a matrix from two 50 pixel strings so 100 x 3 300 channels.  Everything look correct in X-lights and with Falcon software and the 1st string is working fine but the 2nd string is not working.  I switch the strings to test and the 2nd string is good but not working when plugged in line.  Any thoughts?
Thanks

Falcon Pi Player / Re: Running Falcon F4V3 without pc attached.
« on: August 10, 2018, 12:00:03 PM »
Sorry aljerdes, I must have misread the clock thing.  I just purchased a Pi3 B+ but can't find where I read that.  Anyhow I am completely new to PI and Linux but I'm determined to learn this at my age.  I'm no programmer by any means and have only known and operated Windows O/S.  I see I can load a washed down version of Windows 10 Iot, but I'm not sure if that's any easier than Raspbian, or whether it will run a Falcon controller.

At this time I only want the Pi for separating the Falcon from my pc.

Can anyone please offer their thoughts as to the best way to get started with a PI strictly for using with my Falcon controller.  Something for dummy's.    :)

Thank you!

Falcon Hardware / Re: Falcon case w power supply question
« on: August 03, 2018, 08:15:45 AM »
Thanks to all, I am in the Chicago IL USA area but I'm going to start with my box indoors exiting through the wall.  Being new and small with no expansion board I should be able to get away with this.  I will start with 2 small vents.
Thanks again!!

Falcon Hardware / Falcon case w power supply question
« on: July 24, 2018, 03:50:51 PM »
Hello, I was looking for a case like what is offered with the F16V3.  My question is, Does this need venting?  I would think it would get pretty hot if sealed off.  Has anyone modified this case with vents and or possibly a small pc fan?
Thank you

General hardware / Re: 3-4-3 T connectors

Hello, I'm looking for the same thing.  Pre-molded inexpensive 4 prong Pigtail connectors, just like on the Falcon F16V3 preinstalled box.  I'll try CFOL but if anyone else has any ideas it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thank you Jim, and Jeremy!

I believe the Pi3 come with a clock installed so that's a bonus and it's roughly 50% faster than the 2.

Jeremy could you please expand on some other ways other than a Pi?  I'm looking at Pi's but being very new at all this I am interested in other options to cut the pc umbilical cord so to speak.

Thanks again guys!  Great stuff!!

Falcon Pi Player / Running Falcon F4V3 without pc attached.
« on: July 19, 2018, 01:39:23 PM »
Hello, I'm hoping I will be able to produce shows, load the program and setup in areas where a PC is not realistic.  My Falcon has an SD card reader but I believe this is not actually working yet and rather for a future setup.
My questions are.
Is the SD indeed not usable at this time?
Is the purpose of SD for this purpose,  to run separate from PC?
Is a Raspberry Pi the only way to operate it without being attached to the PC?
Are there any other convenient ways to run a Falcon F4v3 board not connected to a pc?
Thank you

Falcon Hardware / IP Address?
« on: July 18, 2018, 01:33:45 PM »
Hello, I am just setting up my new Falcon F4V3 to my pc.  I've watched a several videos but still not sure how I get the IP address for my board to type into the PC. It sounds like every Falcon board has the same IP address?
Please help.
Thank you.

Thank you!!  I think I'll stick to the 12V to start.  I have another question.  The Pixel lights I have are 4 wire Black -  Red+  But Green and yellow are D0+  and D0-.  Can someone tell me which one is the clock and which is Data?
Thanks again

Hello all, I'm a newbie to both X-lights and posting so I hope I'm posting in the correct place.  I just purchased my first Falcon F4V3 and I have a roll of 5V RGB pixel tape light and a few strings of 12v bullets and Domes.
If I power the board with 12V, will the board auto regulate  5V tape light or damage the roll?  Or do I power the board with 5V and inject the 12V at the beginning of their run?  What is the best way to power the board and these different voltages?
Thanks!

General Software / Adding multiple audio sound tracks
« on: July 09, 2018, 04:02:13 PM »
Hello, I am very new to X-lights and need a little help.
I'm just playing to try and learn the system and so I created a Tree in sequencer with a sound track and multiple effects.  I want to now add another sound track at the end of the first.  Can I add it directly in or do I save and create a separate sequence and then schedule them together in scheduler?  I've watched several videos but none seemed to address this.
Thank you
