General Software / Controlling incandescents
« on: November 16, 2018, 04:02:12 PM »
Hi..

I want to control some 1000W incads via dmx and run them with scheduler.

The lights could be on from anywhere between 2.5 and 4 hours.
Also, I want them to fade up slowly so they warm up before full intensity so they last longer.

One way I thought of is to create a timeline 4 hours long, drop an on effect with start intensity 0 to end intensity 100 then drop the same effect beside it with 100% start and end.
Then, drag the last on effect to the end of the timeline.
After which I can create a schedule to run this.

Is this the best way to accomplish this task, or is there a better way?

Thanks a bunch!

Okay.

That would be a great feature to add in the effects settings.

Thanks for the help.

No, it doesn't blank.
It just instantly starts the effect all over again and there is a distinct jump back to the beginning.

General Software / Seamless effect loop

Hi all,

Is there a way to get an effect to seamlessly loop without making the effect really long in time.

I'm using xlights in a live setting with 2 custom matrices as backdrops and using jukebox and xfade to que.
If there are lets say 30 or so scenes, i'd have to have a really long timeline to make sure the effect doesn't have a noticeable restart when it loops.

Is there a way to do this?

Xlights Setup / Re: Help with a matrix
« on: October 12, 2018, 12:25:25 PM »
I've got this matrix installed and working correctly.

Now to phase 2....

I have 6 strands that will be vertically oriented
3 strands per side and they are the same on both sides.

the 2 outer strands are the same length at 95 inches
the inner strand is about a foot shorter.

I am bringing data in on the right side bottom. then data will jump from the top of that one to the next strand.
Strand direction will alternate and it will zig zag.... Is this the correct way to do it?

like this:
|     |                |       |
|  |  |               |   |   |
|  |  |               |   |   |
|     |               |        |

The pixel count is less than 1024.
Can I do this matrix on 1 channel?

How do I compensate for the different length on those 2 strands?

Thanks

Haha,
Thanks Gilrock.

I began installing these before I started to learn Xlights.

The controller is going below the bottom right of the matrix, so I assumed that wiring scheme would be okay.
I just made a custom model using the 420 pixel count and excel.
In the sequence preview it looks correct.

Thanks for the help.
I'll ask next time.. ;D

Xlights Setup / Help with a matrix

Hi All,

I am installing a backdrop in a stage set using 60 px/meter ws2812.
The controller is a F16v3.
I'm not sure how to configure this layout to work as a matrix.
Slowly, I'm wrapping my head around Xligts.

Here is the layout of the pixels:
FP is the port/channel to the controller
The arrows show the data direction and connections
There are approx 420 pixels per line on the long ones.
Is this possible to set up in Xlights?
