Take a look at the xlights manual......Layout>Models>Matrix

https://manual.xlights.org/xlights/chapters/chapter-four-tabs/models/matrix-model

They do it so that it will render the way they designed it regardless if you have a 16x50 tree or a 32x100 tree etc. It will always look (essentially) the same. They leave the effects below the video in case you want to change something or perhaps add to the effects.
It is accomplished by right clicking on the model in the list of elements (without the video and off effect there) and "export" to .avi. Once done, outside of xlights, convert to mp4 .. now you have a video of the rendered effects.

If you want you can delete all those effects- keeping the vid - and it will reduce your render times. If at some point you want the effects, just reimport that model back from the original zip.

Interesting, Thanks.

Actually, all the effects that made up the video are layered below. If I delete the video and the Off effect the model looks no different when played.  From your answer I'll assume it's not a common practice that I should worry about.

Purchased a sequence for the first time and was curious why this vendor converted a model's effects into a video clip and how it's done.

I worked with shaders today with 2022.01 and had no issues. Try running "Tools>check sequence and see if it generates an error.

Using a pic of your house as the background and then eye-ball as Randy mentioned. After setting your display up next year take a pic of your house/setup and then you can use the new pic to move/scale your props.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / FPP Connect
« on: December 19, 2021, 07:18:25 AM »
My setup is Player/Remotes. The Player has no outputs (all controllers are Remotes). When uploading files through FPP Connect is there a downside to using V2/Sparse for the Player? I have a couple of sequences with file sizes >250MB (longer songs with video) which will cause a timeout error when using V2. I plan on testing this later today, but thought I would ask now and possibly save me time later.

Check the wiring for loose connections and for moisture.

Not sure how much time it would take you to re-do the matrix, but I have a feeling that by time you get done messing around learning and creating a custom model...........

On your E131.... channel output page you need to check Enable Output >.Click on Save > ReStart FPP.
Also, your FPP is setup using 512 Channel universes and your controller is using 510 channel universes.

You didn't mention if you get the same results plugging 8 into a different string of lights. If you get the same results I would check your connections starting at the smart receiver for loose wires and moisture.

You define the number of connections you plan on using in the model setup box.  If you want to put an output connector every 6 rows for example, you would define the Strands/String as 6

Why the 49 null nodes after the snowflake 3?

Good catch. Bingo.

Those xLight screenshots look good. How about a look at the controller's output configuration.
