Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Audio Out freezes FPP
« on: December 06, 2020, 06:01:08 PM »
I put my signstek next to my PI 4 and F48, but plugged into my phone, streaming music. Pi 4 running FPP didn?t lock up, FM signal was very clear .

Unplugged my phone, and plugged the3.5mm audio cable into my Soundblaster Play 3 USB sound card on the Pi4 playing FPP playlist with sequences resulted in immediate hang of the lights. An immediate unplug of the cable resulted in an immediate resumption of the lights. I believe that if you don?t catch it quick , then it really hangs, and you then have to power down the PI player.   Also, a zoom person had me go into FPP and set the delay before boot up to 10 seconds. That gives the PI player 10 seconds to realize that there was a USB sound card present before the FPP mounts. Didn?t help though. Great idea in concept.

So now...the consensus is I get a 20 ft audio cable ... I just don?t  see how that can be right if I can put the FM transmitter right next the the Pi and F48 with a different source, my phone, and it not cause a problem it? Its the playing of my playlist within FPP , while connecting to my PI  player does cause it to hang..... and the solution is Longer cable???    That just doesn?t seem right.

Nevertheless, longer cord ordered.

Whether I plug the audio out cable into the USB sound blaster card or plug in to the built in native audio plu on the Pi 4. Running FPP , it almost immediately locks up the pixel sequence . Unplu soon enough, then it resumes the sequence.... so no sound......

Do You Need Help? Post it here / How often is Zoom meeting?
« on: October 18, 2020, 05:13:36 PM »
When I go to Xlights.org, there is a button for a Zoom meeting, but for me, it doesn?t seem to go anywhere.

Maybe I am just trying at the wrong time.  I saw a Keith Westley video where he said it?s a great place to learn.

Thank you

Shouldn?t I be able to take a Boscoyo or Gilbert engineering Coro prop, like a 36-150 Star or a Spinner (big circle), and easily run it thru it?s paces? I see some videos of stuff like pinwheels or other effects.

I don?t see any easy way to do that as a newbie.
