Xlights Setup / help setting up 2nd pi just for video
« on: October 08, 2024, 08:09:30 PM »
I have one pi box that runs my show and puts out a video to my projector.I want to hook up a second one to run another projector but still have all the audio come from the main pi.
Adding a 2nd pi requires multi-syncbut I think but im not sure how to set them all up.
If anyone has some tips and tricks or maybe a good how to video, please let me know.

Either way it was a complete nightmare, I had to reinstall Xlights and lost a lot of my configuration and backup files. I had to redo the Matrix I had set up to run my projector. Not using this stuff everyday makes it hard to remember how I did it the first time lol.
But thanks again for helping

Now I can sit outside with my laptop and work on the design and see what it looks like live  :)

PC 192.168.1.105
FPP 192.168.1.191
F-F16 192.168.1.67
WLAN0 not sure about that one. But why would the FFP matter? I was running shows right from xLights long before I built the FPP.

Update: First, I want to say thank you for trying to help me. When you asked for the IP's of everything I thought you might be asking because you thought it might be a conflict, I'm not sure. But I thought maybe I should turn off the FPP because it's not doing anything if the show is coming from the PC, and sure enough that was the problem. But if the FPP is just on but not playing a show, why would that mess things up?

My PC is hardwired and so is the controller and FPP. In xLights I removed the controller and FPP and reconfigured them, that didnt help. If I make a show and upload it to FPP the show plays fine. It's only when I'm working on the show and want to send it directly to the controller that it's all messed up. What I do is render what I'm working on, then click on Output To Lights and play the show. It was working fine last year now its just messed up. When I say messed up the light flicker like its getting a small portion of the info.
Im going to reinstall xLights to see if that helps.

I'm not sure what happened, but I sure could use some help.

Not long ago I could work on a show then play it directly from xlights. Now nothing plays right, even the old ones. If I send the show to the FPP they all play correctly. I thought maybe a network issue so I rebooted everything. Then I removed the controller from xlights and set it back up again, and still same thing.
Any clue how I can fix it?

General hardware / Questions about FM transmitters
« on: November 23, 2023, 12:02:56 PM »
I have the Signstek ST-7C FM Transmitter and it works great. If power gets disconnected, I have to turn it back on and tune the station again.
Questions:
Do you leave it on all the time?
Did you modify it to run cooler if you have one like mine?
Did you get yours to work on a timer and if so, how?

Here is what I have..  https://www.signstek.com/products/st-05b_b

And Happy Thanksgiving

Lights / Re: ws8211 string what's the best?

Yeah but if its the same number of pixels you got all that current going through a smaller wire.  That extra resistance from a few inches is not much.  You will have to power inject 20ga a lot earlier than 18ga strings.

With a 4" space that's 49" more wire. Seems like alot to me. I sure would love to see a bench test done. Wish I had a set of 18ga  :(

Lights / ws8211 string what's the best?

So looking at the 12v 8211 strings, I'm sure you all want the ones listed as 18ga. But the 18ga strings are 4" apart making the overall length much longer than a 20ga set. The 20ga sets are 3"s apart making it less wire.
So has anyone done a voltage drop test on both sets?

Thanks, I'm going to swap over to the f16.
Now I have one of the 3 candy canes with one LED that looks like it's out of place like it's wired wrong. It's like I have the starting LED out of place.
Hope this all clears up with a better controller

I have one basic show programmed and it looks great in xlights. But the 3 candy canes that I just made skip a frame or one candy cane lights up later than the other two. Sometimes I see a pixel flash when it shouldn't.
Im using a digquad for the candy canes and diguno for my windows. They all have a wifi signal of -60 or better. Would the timing and random pixel flash go away if I changed over to an F16v4 board?
Thanks

Lights / Where is a good place to buy leds from?
« on: July 10, 2021, 08:56:19 PM »
What is a good place to buy 12v led strings? The lights I have now are 12v with a 4.5-inch space. I need a few more with the same spacing or I will have to replace all of them with a smaller spacing. Here are the new ones I bought but they are a 2.75 inch spacing.
