1.The donate link takes me to PayPal and I get this... Sorry ? your last action could not be completed

2. My first Christmas display was a huge success and now that Christmas is behind me and I've seriously caught the bug, I'm looking hard at Halloween.  I've been all over the website, manuals and Youtube looking for details on xLights and servos and I've only found bits and pieces of information but not much on hardware interfaces, etc.

Where is a good place to start to research using xLights for animatronics (i.e., skeletons, etc.).  -I'd love to repurpose my Pi and DMX dumb controller for this, if possible.

Thanks all!

AllKnowing, Boy is my face red.  Thank you for pointing that out!   So to join xlightfaces,  by "contribution", do you mean uploading a sequence that I created?  Would an intro/banter between faces be considered?  -I'm new here and just getting my first show together.

Thank you!

Thanks AllKnowing for the response.  Within the xLights app, under...

 Tools...
              Download Sequences/Lyrics

it states that These sequences are freely shared by xLights users.

Clicking on many of the sequences returns the 503: Access denied. Invalid File Download specs error.  I see that the error is coming from xlightsfaces.com website.  Trying to get to the sequences from within the xLights app will never produce a message that you must contribute first. Maybe the xLights app needs to be updated with verbiage that reflects users must have already contributed first instead of stating that sequences are being freely shared?

Do You Need Help? Post it here / xLights Free Sequences Question
« on: October 15, 2021, 09:19:26 AM »
My first attempt at xLights is coming along.  I'm taking a different approach to singing Christmas Trees by using a DMX controller and LED neon rope.  Here's the first of three props in production (eyes and mouth nodes are now attached).  -No clue why it's sideways, I'm not sideways. ::)

But I have a question...   In xLights, when I try to download many of the free signing face sequences to play with them, I get an error "503: Access denied. Invalid File Download specs." or some send me to the xlightfaces.com website with no way to navigate to any sequences.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

The LED ropes are 12VDC and are basically a flexible, diffused 5 meter string of 600 SMD 2835 LEDs in a single color. The ropes come in red, green, blue, pink, warm white, bright white, purple, yellow, etc. and can be cut at 1" intervals.  Applying 12VDC to the string will light all of the LEDs so I'm guessing that a multi-channel dumb DMX controller would work, right?  -Or is there a better way?

I also appreciate you comment on X-Lights... I need to dig in to that software and immerse myself.

Thank you!

This is perhaps a really nube question but I am new to this so here goes?

I would like to start into this hobby with a set of 4 signing/talking somethings (trees, C9 lights, whatever), but I do not like the way that the typical mail-order coro systems look so pixelated with individual LEDs.  Plus,  say that I go with a singing tree design; I do not see the need for RGB LEDs if the outline is always going to be green and the eyes, etc. will always be white (am I missing something here?).

I have played with LED neon rope in the past on other projects and like the way that it is flexible (even allowing me to make small tight circles), bright and appears as a glowing continuous light.

But how do I control that with X-Lights and what controller is best to accomplish a LED rope type of display(s)?  Also, I would like to perhaps use public domain or purchased sequences, so I would like to follow what looks to be the standard 8 channel per prop (outline, eyes open/shut, 5 mouth gestures) protocol.

While I am rather technical (retired computer tech) I am now lost in a sea of research and would appreciate any/all help.

Thanks!
