General hardware / Re: Interactive motion sensor pixels
« on: July 11, 2024, 09:52:08 PM »
So many ways to achieve this!
Tell us what you already have and want to do.

This can be stand-alone running off an Arduino, ESP32 or Pi.
Or it could be running of a pixel controller with FPP/xSchedule changing the sequence.

E.g.
sensor -> GPIO on FPP -> plays overlay or other sequence.
sensor -> artNET input on a Falcon -> FPP or xSchedule trigger -> plays overlay or other sequence.
sensor -> GPIO on esp32 -> runs effect on WLED direct to pixels.

This can go as easy or complicated as you would like.

Bugs in xLights/Nutcracker / Re: LOW FPS

Does it only happen for one sequence or all sequences?
Behaviour of slow at first, then normal later sounds like xLights is still rendering models as you have played the timeline.

The seed pixels, what Ray Wu calls pebbles, are not designed to be used outdoors for a long time. They yellow after one season.
I think they are great for space saving and versatility (if you are willing to accept the pain of soldering them).

Keep in mind, actual pebble pixels are very reliable to work outside for years without issues. The Chinese vendors are trying to make their product sound better than it is. Actual pebble pixels are these: https://www.creativedisplays.com/products/rgb-clear-pebble-with-black-wire-20-count-double-sided-12-spacing/

There's some custom model and custom sub models in the xLights Google drive.
The xLights Google drive is more than just sequences.

Great to see this forum is back online  :).

Planet Christmas had a revamp then came back online, but it has gone offline again :(.

Is there a reason you want to use WiFi for heavy data transmission in your show?

WiFi for direct E1.31 streaming is a disaster waiting for packet drops and lights freezing.
Not to mention I have thoughts that your mesh system will have it's on delay introduced.
