Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: Two Separate Homes in NC?
« on: August 18, 2015, 06:53:05 PM »
On the Setup tab see where it says Directories at the top?  Hit the Change button beside Show Directory and point it to a different directory.  I usually click the Link button to keep my media directory pointing to the selected show directory.  You can have as many Show Directories as you want.  So when people give me files for troubleshooting I just copy them to a new directory, open xLights, and then change the Show Directory to point to that folder and viola I can see their Layout and sequence on their house.  Some of my videos actually have other people's houses cause I liked their setup better than mine. :)

Thank you! So simple!

Yeah I have about 26 homes on my computer.  A show directory for each one of you that's had issues and given us your files.

Would you please explain how I would do this? Thanks!

I want to be able to do two separate homes. Is this possible? Can someone please explain? Thanks!

Donny
Have both homes shown on the same  background picture.
Separate the channel assignments...  the first 32 universes for home #1 and the next 32 for home #2.

Have fpp #1 serve home #1 with the first 32 universes.

Are you looking for something else?

This will work. May get a little confusing at first, but will work. I was hoping I could have two separate layouts, background pictures, and channel setups.

The Water Cooler / Take A Chance On My Class And Win!
« on: July 02, 2015, 08:35:26 AM »
Hello Everyone! This year in Fort Worth I will be teaching a few classes. One will be DIY: Getting Down and Dirty, and the second, a two part class, Soldering 101/ Hands On. I would be thrilled to have you join in on either or both classes. To show my thanks, my awesome friends at http://www.boscoyostudio.com/ has offered up two $50.00 gift cards. One card for each class will be given away to someone attending my class. I will collect names and draw at the end of class. You must attend the entire class to be in the drawing.

I look forward to seeing old and new friends at the Christmas Expo on July 15th in Texas!

I'm not sure about groups, but in July there will be plenty of xlights/Nutcracker info at the Expo!

+1

I know some may see them as competitors but what about Vixen 3 and LSP?

The Expo is about learning and sharing from all aspects. The more that's offered, the better! :)

We are working on getting V3 there now. Waiting on a few decisions! Not sure about LSP though!

I have a snowflake that I want to add pixels too.

Essentially six arms. How would you model this in Xlights/Nutcracker? want to make sure I hook up the pixels so it works well.

thanks

Mike

I made a custom model.

LOR / Re: xLights, LOR, DMX Bridge, and Lynx Express!

Got it working. A single undefined channel at the beginning of the sequence was the issue!

Dunno. I bet something is set wrong? Any errors in the conversion? I always ck Map all channels and off at the end. I just ran 15000+ channels (RGB and Lor) and 52 lms (56gig) convertions into xseq and in PREVIEW all looks fine. No errors reported.

Are you using a bridge to connect you lor controllers?

In the test tab try checking only one of the LOR boxes (16ch). I would suspect something (channels) are not right. Also make sure your LOR boxes are set to the right channels as they are hard coded. DMX-DOC.pdf explains.

I'm not using any LOR controllers. I'm using Lynx Express, which are dmx. I can go to the test tab and select the correct channels and the light fine. I can also open an xseq file and add a model with the correct channel, throw some effects in it and it will light the AC channels. Something with the conversion is where I'm messed up! I just can find it!

Need some help please! I seem to not get anything when import a LMS file in to xLIghts! I create an xLights sequence and save it. I then convert an LMS file and save, but when I output to preview or actual lights, I get no AC channels. Pixels work fine. I can go to the test tab and the lights work fine. can add a model with the corect AC channel to the xLights sequence and lights work fine. When I try it importing an LMS file, no lights! Any idea please!?

Latest xLights/Nutcracker software / Re: Crash 3.4.12
« on: August 26, 2014, 06:47:21 AM »
I can't duplicate the crash that is why I need to see xlighrs _rgbeffects.xml
Maybe some combination causes the crash I don't know about

This is happening during model modify. Here's a screencast.
