Have you tried see if you can reach the controller? Run the ping command from the command prompt in windows to see if you can "reach" the controller. also remember you need to have a hub switch in between computer and controller, at least for the alpha pix. As for the other one, I'm not familiar with. I'm gonna guess it's the same tho.

I have two controllers - one HinksPix Pro and one AlphaPix 16.  Two years ago they both worked great in Xlights.  Since then I've replaced the PC that I use for Xlights and that powers my show.  Now I can only get the AlphaPix 16 to work correctly in test mode and I can't get either one to work when I Output to Lights from Xlights or try to run a show from xSchedule64.  I hope it's something simple that I missed or was changed in xlights a couple years ago.

Any help would be appreciated!

General hardware / Re: Pixels dim after certain number in string

Rule of thumb (which is almost always not optimal or required but saves a lot of messing around).

Bullets/square with 4" spacing... power inject
12v at 200 (assuming powered at 1). This is 100 in each direction.
5V at 100. This is 50 in each direction.

Do You Need Help? Post it here / Re: "t" does not create timing marks

t works for me (2024-18). I did have a problem when got it in some funky mode but clicking on the timing track and the waveform restored the "t" function. I could not recreate the problem so not sure what was going on. Two other "new" sequences worked just fine without any fiddling.

When you are in xLights, you should not be hearing  ba'ling noise. That is indicating the key press is invalid. Even when my t didn't work, xLights still took it, just didn't mark the time.

Hello, so I'm updating songs. Try to add timing marks all I get is windows audio cue (ba'ling noise). I deleted key binding files, twice,to no avail. I made sure I was using small case "t". I tried making a new timing track. Nothing. But if I click in the music wave form it creates a start point red line. If i click on it again I get a timing mark. I'm pretty sure this isn't how it's suppose to work. thought you guys would want to know and also possibly help someone else who needs to get going on things and needs timing marks.

edit: What is done is mark starting point for music then press "t" then move cursor over line when double arrow cursor shows click and drag.

If you are not power injecting, it sounds like a power issue.   You typically want to power inject after 170 lights.  You can go a little further on the newer seed pixels that use less power.  You will burn up your lights if you are under powering them.  Even if they are working, you can greatly reduce their lifespan.  Check out the below calculator.

General hardware / Pixels dim after certain number in string
« Last post by jwilliams31 on November 20, 2024, 07:33:34 AM »
I'm running a WiredWatts/Kulp K16A-B w/2v 350w power supply.  I am running 2811 type pixels.  I was working on setting up a new prop and noticed that after approximately 350 pixels, all pixels after that are dimmer.

Not sure if I have a bad pixel/string in that first string after the 350 or if it's a power issue?

Any thoughts or assistance would be appreciated.

As a rookie, I'd strongly suggest you use the xLights controller functions unless you have a very particular need that it just doesn't work for you.

The main advantage is that you don't really have to configure specific universes and channels because xLights is a smart universe/channel bot. The main enablement of xLights smarts is the visualizer button that allows you to put your props on your controller. xLights will figure out all the universes/channels and when you upload your config, it will be correct for how the visualizer was set up. Try it out. I think you will like it.

I knew it had to be something simple I was overlooking.

Thank you for your response!
