segmented roof line
« on: April 11, 2015, 01:52:22 PM »
I noticed in Sean's video's that he has his roof line outlined...I'm assuming that he has build multiple line segments (Models), placed them in the picture and then grouped them as a single line model.   Or is there a different way to do it?

Depends on what you want to do.  Grouping as I under stand it does nothing for sequencing and only has to do with being able to turn them on and off in the preview all at once.  Do you want to chase from one end to the other, or make each segment look alike, or control them individually?  You should make them into 3 separate models fpr purposes of placement on the preview and only mark these individual ones as part of my display.  The others you don't need to be on the preview.  Your channel numbering will also play a part.  My eaves are in four sections, but I have used sequential channel numbers.  I made a custom model as a horizontal matrix so I can use a bar to sweep across them simultaneously with each section starting the same and finishing the same.  I also tried them as a line model so I can do a chase from one end to the other for the whole front of my house and I have them defined individually so I can do differently things on different sections of the house.  But to me them look best and are easiest to sequence when I am doing things using a whole house model and using things like pinwheel, or wave, etc.  Just my opinion, YMMV

It was only for display purposes in Preview....For whole house I use a straight line for the eves...Close enough, but it would be nice to be able to draw a line, hit a key, and bend the line, hit a key again, bend it once more and so forth....

Way easier said then programed!
