4.0.28 crashes

I've been using 4.0.28 for a few days without issue until now.
I was trying to create a new RGB dumb star model when XL/NC crashed. Now everytime I try to start the program it crashes & the debug report window shows up.

Another strange thing is when I navigate to where the debug report is located it will only remain there when the debug report window is open. Once I hit ok on the report window the xlights debug file disappears.
I did manage to copy it, if needed.

If you could grab the backtrace out of the crash report stuff, that could be helpful.  If it's crashing at open, it may be a corrupt xlights_rgbeffects.xml or xlights_keybindings.xml file.   I would try moving them out and opening.   If that IS the case, please send them along.   I'd like to see what is going on so we can prevent the crash.

I had a bit of time this evening to mess around with this.

I removed the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file & xlights works again except all my work with the models was gone.
I then opened the xlights_rgbeffects.xml file in wordpad & deleted the model I was working on when it crashed, resaved & my models are back. 

Here is the backtrace & troubled xlights_rgbeffects.xml file for you to have a look at. Maybe theres something you can do with it so that if someone else screws up the model parameters it will spit out an error message instead.

quick suggestion - instead of Wordpad

use Notepad++  (it is free).  It is MUCH better when working with these XML files.

+1 on notepad++.  That is also what Sean recommends.
