Import issues with Vixen 2.1
« on: July 16, 2015, 02:34:39 PM »
I am having problems importing my Vixen 2.1 sequences into Nutcracker. I have followed the video by Daniel Kulp (Import as Effects Tutorial - 4.0.32) and instead of importing my 276 channels i only get 3. Not the first 3 or the last 3 just 3 channels of my mega tree. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong. I'm using the current version of Nutcracker.

I have no knowledge of Vixen , but If you use the import effects , then you import into  each XL model (one at a time) and then do the next one etc , then render /save.

The alternative is to use the data layer via the settings tab and import the whole sequence (as a non editable data layer item).

So if using te import effects method , did you import into each model ?

I'm still cutting my teeth with Nutcracker and understanding the differences with Vixen 2.1 and how to deal with them.  I havent made any models, I was thinking I could import my Vixen 2.1 sequences/channels and then assign and build from there. I'm obviously doing something out of sequence but cant figure out what needs to be done first in order to get the channels imported correctly. I wasnt wanting to redo 276 AC channels as I begin to add pixels to my display and wanted to get started of right.

Hi,
There are two main ways to import.

1. You have other ie vixen , LSP etc sequences that you want in xlights. They are done and at most u may add a few new modles or change a bit. In which case import as a data layer. You can't edit what you have imported , but it is easy do do  and very efficient.

2. You wq t to get them into native xlights and change and fiddle with the effects.
Then u can import effects , but u do a model at a time though u can select several models to import.

I imported al my LSP sequnces as data layers. Then for the same seq, for new models , I have done those effects in xlights via the sequencer.

Search for an LSP post by mrchristmas2000 describing step by step how to use the data layer import.
