Nutcracker - LOR - Madrix - Xlights
« on: March 09, 2014, 10:44:10 PM »
Guys, I don't mean this question to be heresy, so please bare with it. It is going to be a doosy. I have looked around and have not seen anything resembling it.

Is it possible to have my LOR sequences with my Madrix interface channels, (to drive Madrix) to convert them to Xlights, add NC effects and be able to run on the Pi controlling my LOR network as it is today, (LOR protocol) and my E1.31 Universe configuration?

Sorry if that is beyond ignorant and skirting stupid.

Zman, I cheated and looked your LOR Forum post. It says that Madrix uses four "reserved" DMX channels.

If that is true, then the answer is for Madrix is:  No problem (unless, perhaps, you are using LOR's iDMX converter. If so, I'm not familiar with it)

As far as outputting from the FalconPi in LOR Protocol, that has been done in Test versions using a USB RS485 interface but I don't think the Current Release version is doing that yet. (one of the developers can update me on that)

If you were to run 100% DMX, the answer is definitely: No problem

Quote from your LOR post:
Quote
LOR Channel Config:

Madrix Storage Unit - DMX Universe - Universe (x) Channel 1
Madrix Bin Number - DMX Universe - Universe (x) Channel 2
Madrix Cross Fade - DMX Universe - Universe (x) Channel 3 (in my case the lease used if at all)
Madrix Master Fade - DMX Universe - Universe (x) Channel 4

Thanks for the response.

Currently today, I do use an iDMX from LOR as my one official DMX universe. I also own a few Enttec Pro's so swapping out an issue if need be.

I also output E1.31 to several E682's.

I am aware that I can run the controllers in DMX mode. My main issue is time. Trying to balance life, a demanding job with travel, and the display. That is why keeping it as aligned with what I do is easiest, but maybe not the best.

Madrix is called from 4 channels within the LOR sequence. They have their own output universe that inputs to Madrix.

I guess I will wait for any developer input and continue to peruse what I can to see how to start down the path.
