Cannot Open XSEQ File ?
« on: July 23, 2015, 08:33:19 PM »
First of all, I would like to thank Sean for Xlights... This is my first post...  :) I have been using LOR for 5 years now, and just got into RGB.  I have been playing with XL for a while and just started creating my first sequence.  I loaded the latest version (4.1.1.2) today.  I was playing around with importing LOR sequences, and when I went to open the new converted sequence, I tried to open the sequence from the toolbar.  But the only selections I had available were "XML" and "FSEQ". The dropdown did not give an option for "XSEQ". As I am new to XL, I though I may be missing something... Thoughts ?

Thanks for the assistance.

You do not have to "look for" an xseq file anymore.   I assume you are trying to open up your file(s) from the "layout" tab?   I just checked mine; I have some xseq files in my dropdown, but I think that is because I have used xlights 3.x and I haven't taken the time to clean up my file structure.   Anyway, you should just open up the fseq file if you are at the layout tab or the xml file if you are at the sequencer tab

Don't convert to an XSEQ file that's the old method.  Create a sequence and then goto Sequence Settings dialog to the Data Layer tab hit the Import button and select your .lms file.  Then wait for the number of channels to populate to know its done importing.  Then it will render and you can play it.  The data won't show up as effects with this method but you can see it if you drill down to the nodes.  There is a import as effects option also but if you have a lot of RGB data it really creates too many effects.
