MIIP for XLights
« on: March 03, 2014, 08:09:25 PM »
Itsmebob0 has wrote a program called MIIP (Mobile Internet Interactive Playlist).

http://miip.mobi/help/MemberDocumentation.html that is the page with an explanation of what it does.

It basically allows your visitors to pick the next song/sequence in your show. I have used it the last 2 years and my visitors love it, I cant imagine running a show anymore without it.

It currently only works with LOR's S3 software.

A few weeks ago I asked him what he thought about making it work with xlights, we tried a few things and hit a roadblock where xlights will only load a new schedule when the software stops and restarts. THe way MIIP works is it write a new schedule file 10 seconds before the current song is ending. LOR's show player loads the new file and playing which ever song was voted on to play next.

Is there anyway we can get XLights to load a new schedule file without having to restart the software. It would be very cool to get MIIP working with Xlights. It is a great addon to our shows, your guests will love it.

Thanks
Doug

I think we can do this. We had this discussion among the developers last summer.

I will also bring it up to the pi player team. I used xlights as my show player in 2012, pi player in 2013. The pi player team is working to make it so u can enter a persons name on your phone it will overlay on top of the current running show. So making the show player interactive is on their todo list. This would be one more thing they could add.

Good idea for both xlights and fpp

That sounds like a really great idea.  When I first saw that someone had done this (maybe Angus40?) last year I was thinking (???).  But I think people would really like this.  Boy I sure do have a lot to learn!!!
