I have a question about adding models to a sequence.  Every time I a start a new sequence, I have to add all of the models by clicking on each one and saving  the sequence.  There seems to be no way to change the audio and save as another sequence.   OR...., there seems to be no way to add all of the models each time I make a new sequence.   Either way, if there is an easier way to do this, I am all ears.
Thanks

On the dialog where you add models to the sequence you need to create a View.  Maybe call it All Models or Everything and then add models to that view that you want to exist in all your new sequences.  Then when you create a new sequence all you gotta do is select that view in the drop down to the left of the waveform and all the models in that view will auto-populate the grid.  The only extra thing you gotta do is add any timing rows you might want to be part of the view because timings are local to the sequence and not part of the view.  After you add them once the sequence will remember which views you associated that timing row with.  I made a video to show all this and then the PC crashed when uploading it and now ScreencastOmatic says the recording is corrupted so I didn't feel like recording it again...maybe another day.

OK, I now see the "Master View" and clicked on that and they are there.   I went ahead and made an "All Models" as a backup and hit F10.
Thanks, that did the trick.

Unless you hit Save on the Layout tab or saved the models when you exit the program your F10 backup doesn't contain the ones you are working on in the active session.

By Layout Tab, I assume you mean at the top left, next to save as.  For some reason, when I close the program and reopen it, the new VIEW is missing.  I tried it several times last night.  Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Are you paying attention to the questions you get asked when you exit?  One of them is along the lines of "would you like to save your work".  By Layout tab I meant the tab with the word "Layout" on it...

It never occurred to me to go to the Layout tab and save the new view, and then save the sequence,  but it worked.   I just thought save is save.   I never got a message when closing the program, because I would always save it first, hit F10,  then close by just hitting the "X".
You have to understand, this is a huge learning process for me.   If there is no instruction on how to do certain things, I probably will never know.
Thanks....moving forward again.

That's odd that you wouldn't get a message asking if you want to save changes to the models on exit.  I tested this out by copying a model, opened a sequence and changed it.  Clicked on save sequence, and then closed xLights.  I was prompted with a dialog box asking if I want to save changes to models, views, perspectives and presets.

I am prompted, also. Many times I would have exited and lost layout data without that prompt.

Yeah that prompt on exit is new.  We used to be saving the rgbeffects file tons of times while you were sequencing and it seemed to cause it to get corrupted sometimes.  I tried to add logic to make it save a backup before the write but that just seemed to make it worse.  So I changed it to only save when you tell it to.  We should probably add a Save button to the View and automatically save if you hit F10.  This might get fine tuned like maybe save all the files when the sequence is saved.
