Import LMS files (convert them) to xLights
« on: August 20, 2015, 04:20:02 PM »
Newbie to xLights here. Is there a nice video tutorial on how to migrate your LOR LMS files over to xLights? I've spent a lot of time over the past few years on them but now wish to sequence in xLights.

I tried converting one and when it was done I am staring at a blank sequencer screen in xLights.

Thanks - Bob

Hi Bob,

We have a Wiki with many tutorial videos.
On the top of this screen on menu bar to the right of Home, click on Wiki, then on Tutorials.  There is at least one recent video on converting LOR to NC.

Welcome to the NC forums!

Oh - Gilrock, I did not create a model yet - want to read and see the process beforehand to gain an understanding of the steps involved- thanks!  Bob

You will have to create models.

Now, I did cheat at first by creating a horizontal matrix (that I didn't even have) and made it large enough to contain all my LOR channels (1024 or 2 universes). Then I could always see that the data made the conversion.

I have various controllers for my show this upcoming season: LOR AC controllers, LOR CMB24 DC Dumb RGB controllers, and Alphapix 4 and 16 smart RGB controllers. This is the first time that I will be using the smart RGB controllers - primarily for roofline and window smart RGB strips. I understand that I can drive all of these different controllers from xLights. If, however, I run out of time and need to use the LOR Advanced suite with Pixel Editor, can LOR S3 talk DMX to all of these controllers, smart, dumb, etc. over an E1.31 network?

At the moment, I've got all of the dumb RGB and AC light strings receiving DMX from LOR S3 - all seems to work just fine - but so far just using the LOR RS485 dongle to output to the lights. I haven't yet added any smart RGB controllers...

I hope that it can because DMX is just the signal protocol (traffic cop) and the physical devices can be understood as the receivers, translators, and transmitters to the right destinations at the right time.
