I say you got it working so just pay attention to whether it happens again.  No reason to go digging if it never happens again.

There is definitely some hokeyness in the "T" insertion of timing marks if a range is not selected for the timing mark.   For example, if the effect to the left of the insertion point is completely off screen, the timing marks starting position is kind of strange.    I started fixing a bunch of this yesterday, but didn't get it committed in time for the release today.   Some of the changes I made are huge and I want Gil and others to look at it/test it before it's released into the wild.

Dan,

Here is another strange one. V4.2.5

File/New Sequence/Musical(and media selected)/50ms/Skip/Done
and sequence opens with "New Timing" in aqua and bullet is checked.

Then

Right click on New Timing/Add Timing Track/name it New2/OK/
and New2 timing track is added in red

So far, so good, then

go to Settings/Sequence Settings/Timings/New/select default of 50ms/OK/
and the added timings labeled 50ms shows up but there is a white line across the entire song track only on the 50ms line
Also, underneath the 50ms under the sound track is solid green and pressing "T" as sound track is playing does nothing even though it is checked

If I check either of the first two timing track everything is correct.

Charles when you create a timing track with over 3000 timing marks a.k.a. a 50ms timing track you gotta zoom in to get separation between the 50ms lines.  Currently we don't try to reduce the number of lines drawn when you are at full zoom so you are seeing thousands of timing lines drawn on top of each other making it look like a big mass.
