Move effects
« on: September 02, 2015, 06:13:56 AM »
These requests are in no way important, but I thought would be nice to have.  Currently we can move an effect to the right or left by grabbing in the middle.  Is it possible to increase this "window" to the entire length (except for the ends where you can grab to change the length).  On long effects, 20 seconds for example, to move you have to scroll all the way over to the middle.

Also, is it possible to add a feature where we can drag/move effects up and down?  So, move effect from one layer to another, or even from one model/group to another.  I know you can use the cursor, but it's only for layers, and only for one effect... which is another request, can we select multiple effects and move them?

Again, just a few ideas.  Not important but I think would add some nice features.

Thanks for considering,
James

There needs to be a gap between the middle and edge hotspots or you would never be able to select the cell underneath the effect.  I know because I accidentally had it working the way you're asking and Sean slapped me on the wrist when he couldn't do a drag selection anymore.   He had effects in every cell and the logic wasn't allowing him to select any cell at all.  So there's always a lot more to this stuff than it may appear.  I've tuned all the hotspot widths so that you don't have to zoom in too far to have some in-between gap when the effect isn't very long.  It was really meant that you grab the square in the middle but then we added the option to display different backgrounds so now it's not as obvious where the middle is.  But you can always resort to moving one edge and then the other to move an effect and I find it easier to use the mouse wheel to zoom out then do the move and then zoom in.  You can get pretty quick at that.

For those other moves just do a cut/paste operation.  I know the cut is currently copy+delete but I'll probably be switching that.

When I get time to start sequencing my own show that's when I'll run into things I don't like and fix them.
