New sequence from Lilia: Frozen, Let It Go.
« on: April 04, 2016, 01:58:33 AM »
New sequence from Lilia: Frozen, Let It Go. https://vimeo.com/161441186

I also added a trick to simulate my projector playing a movie on my garage door. My last channel was 48,000. I created a horizontal matrix that was 40x50 starting at channel 50,000-62,000. I dropped the frozen.mp4 movie file onto a MOVIE effect from the very beginning to the very end of the sequence on that matrix. Now when I play the sequence I can see what the movie looks like on the garage. I do not actually have any pixels on the garage so I am generating extra stuff in the fseq I will not use. It increased the save time 10%, total file size was 245mbytes, so not bad.  When the fseq file is sent to the FPP, I will not map anything above 48,000 so the extra channels are just ignored.

There are beautiful transitions in this. Well done!

Where will you place your projector for the garage. Short throw or long throw? Also, are you syncing the mp3 file to the video to get it to match or is there a way to use only the mp4 for audio and video. This is stumping me.

You can select MP4 files for your audio media.

Thanks Sean--I just posted the other day asking about this exact same question (on how to get a "video monitor"/simulated projector in the House Preview if you're using a projector).

yeah, I saw the other post. That is why i took Lilia's latest "Let it Go" and posted video so you can see how i worked around the issue.

a 30x40 horiz matrix just needs 3600 channels to be added to the end of your current sequence.

It's working okay for me--the only issue is my rendering-time is now 10X longer.

Yep you gotta decide how valuable it is for you to see that preview video.

If a loaded a lower-quality video, would that make rendering faster?

I could easily make a low-res version (for XLights/sequencing) and a high-res version for the final projection.

40x30 is the size of my actual "garage door" matrix (used to be in PVC tubes).

Well, Lilia finished Let It Go. She did not know that I was putting a video to her sequence. After she saw the video in the preview, she modified parts to match motions in the video better. I will leave the first video (at the top of this post) so you can compare the changes. Here is the completed version. https://vimeo.com/161643863

Now that is storytelling with lights! The flow is much improved. Lilia has a good ear and pays attention to musical nuances.

And that's why I think it's really important to be able to see the video as it relates to the sequencing!
