Error message?
« on: April 26, 2014, 12:01:05 PM »
After creating a sequence, I sometimes get the message "Reset my display flags on element models to match sequence?"  WHAT???

What is going on?

Also, I have found the preview does NOT match the nutcracker  representation of what I just built? I find I get effect one  but NOT always effect two when previewing. I always see both when in the nutcracker tab.

Prior to using preview, I always save my sequence and then before clicking 'play' on the preview, I always open up the same file I just saved in nutcracker. Then after I click play,  I ONLY see effect one on some lines not effect two.  Why?

Another problem, When I first design a file with no music, I open up a file using 'new animation sequence'. I generally set the time to exactly one minute. However after saving a file for LESS than one minute then I have blank space at the end of a file. If my last line ends at 45 seconds, How do I save this file at the 45 second length time? I don't want 15 seconds of blank space at the end of my file.

Thanks -Greg--

"Reset my display flags on element models to match sequence?"  is not an error message. It is saying that the models you are using in your current sequence are not all set.

Ill give you an example.

You create a sequence and use 3 models, a,b,c

Now you create a new model d.

assume you have set "part of my Display" checkbox in the model setup screen on all 4.

If you play a sequence that has only a,b,c xlights will detect that the models dont match what you are currently using.
The easy answer , always answer yes to that question. xlights will go through all models uncheck every model that is not attached to the current sequence.
The preview not matching is caused by the fact that the preview only plays from the xseq file. I always use the Open option in preview to make sure i have the current xseq file. I have seen a bug where you do press save and the xseq file does not seem to have been updated. pressing save a second time and then doing the open from the preview screen seems to fix it.

on your 3rd question. You create a 1 minute sequence and later you want to make it 45 seconds. There is no easy way to shorten it.

this is the workaround

assume your first 1 minute sequence was called 1min

1) Create another sequence that is 45 seconds, lest call it 45sec
2) now just copy your effects over onto the second file
copy 1min.xml onto 45sec.xml

Open the 45sec sequence. it is 45 seconds long and it has all of the effects from 1 min.

I disagree with this answer.  I have found that if I go back to a different sequence and hit play the preview does not detect that a model is no longer checked as part of my display and the model does not show during the preview.  I always answer NO.  If an element is not in the sequence it will not display and has no effect on the preview screen.  In my opinion it is a worthless option that is not needed.  What I would much prefer is to have a window that will let me change the "part of my display" for each model without having to edit each model and make the change.

I say "No" to that prompt, also. I've never seen a downside to having all my models listed (the ones that are checked as "Part of My Display")

I have over 100 models, as i test them, verify bugs. i do not want them all to be in my preview, i only want the models that are attached to the sequence i am running. therefore, i always answer yes to the  prompt. this makes it so only the models attached to a sequence show in the preview.
