Building An Element and Assigning For LOR conversion
« on: September 29, 2015, 01:22:35 PM »
So we are very new with RGB's, building a pixel tree using the E682 controller this so far was great xlights/nutcracker is incredible.

I have watched a ton of videos but the question I have is we would like to bring our LOR sequences total of 144 channels 90% are LED's into Xlights.

If we understand things correctly we need to first build all the Elements but.....what start channel and output would we assign to each element so I can be sure things convert over right and run correctly

For instance we have a 32 strand mega tree
16 mini trees
4 arch's five segments each
these are all LED's

Ill watch more video if we can be pointed in the right direction

Thanks
Dennis

I have all my Lor stuff as universe 1 in xlights, I also changed all my lor stuff to Dmx it made the transformation easier into xlights, you also have to make your models in xlights to match your channel numbers

Don Thanks

That sounds good we will input the 144 lor channels into xlights as universe 1 and number the elements accordingly

The RGB Pixel tree we are building  16 stands of 50 pixels would it then start on Universe 2

yes that is the way I have mine. Some actually set Universe 1 for the LOR with 510 (or 512) channels, just in case they want to add more AC channels. Even if they do not use them, it does not affect how XL will work. It will use the channels you assigned to the models.

Thanks so much for the help we got things to work
BUT have another question we went to run a test sequence we made to be sure things worked

Our pixel tree 16 strands 50 Pixels in the sequence we had hit changing from red to green to blue but
some of the strands are not the right color.... Running the E682 off the web everything is correct. I checked all the strings and nodes the colors are correct.

Any thoughts

If I don't respond I will be in the mountains of Nor, Calif without cell or internet for a few days

Thanks
Dennis

It saves us from guessing if you can show screenshots of your SanDevices setup, xLights Setup tab, and the model setup.  My guess is you have extra channels somewhere.  Like if you are outputting 512 channels but the SanDevice only wants 510 then the next string will be off by 2 colors.

Sorry for not replying
we have not had a chance to work on things we have been in the process of remodeling our kitchen so we have been working on that during our free time. Seems my wife had different priorities  but now things are done and we will be starting again next few days. I will look at how things are set up and get some screen shots.

Rather than use the test mode , I suggest that you create a sequence , put an ON red effect for 10 secs , then on green , then blue etc  (only on the tree) , render all , select output to lights and test that way.

If the colors on the tree match , then good , else your lights are not RGB (they could be GRB etc) and accordingly to can change the model definition or the definition on the controller.

then you can replace the same on a whole house model and re-render. If some look odd, u probably have a channel overlap on your models..
