Layout UI
« on: November 01, 2015, 07:12:00 PM »
I have been around the Nutcracker / Xlights arena for a few years now, but I never really worked in it until two days ago.  It's incredible software, and Sean and others have done some great work.  As fresh eyes on this software, I've noticed a few things that could help:

Rollover effect on models.  I've found myself placing and moving multiple models rather frequently (creating an AC layout with some pixels) and often incorrectly selecting the wrong model.  (I click and drag at the same time)  It would be helpful to have a rollover effect (to see which one I'm selecting) before I click and drag the wrong model.  Currently it highlights when you click it once, but it would be helpful to see which one is selected before it's clicked.

Left align the model tag titles (Element Name, Start Channel, End Channel).  It seems as if they have like 4 spaces before them, and I can't really read the text.  Obviously I know now what they do, but it's annoying to drag them to the right (and sacrificing house model space)

Easier way to position / view the house model  When I'm in the layout tab, I can view the house model.  But, if I shrink the window at all, the model gets cut off and there's no way to view the parts that got cut off.  Maybe a zoom in/out, auto position (scaling proportionally, of course) or a bar to drag left/right and up/down

I applaud the efforts here with the product.  I love an intuitive UI design, and I'd love to help improve this / offer suggestions to make this a better product!

I can't comment on the first two requests but you've already got a couple of options for the house model. In the layout tab, simply change the size of the layout window using the Set Size button at the top - it nicely scales everything.

In the sequencer tab, you can just grab the House Preview window and scale it anyway you want and it scales everything as you resize the window.
